I had to say goodbye to an old friend this weekend. My favorite thrift store is closing. I stopped in Saturday and they had a sign on the door saying June 24th was their last day to be open. They are having a big sale that last day. I'll probably stop in one last time but I doubt they'll be putting anything new on the shelves the last week.

This place has been maybe the biggest contributor to my collection. I've found a few hundred games ther for several systems. Off the top of my head I remember:

Atari 2600
Atari 7800
Atari 5200
Intellivion
Colecovision
Odyssey2
NES
SNES
N64
Gameboy
Game Gear
SMS
Genesis
Saturn
Sega CD
Sega 32X
Dreamcast
3DO
CD-i
TG-16
PS1
PS2
PC

some of the highlights being Swordquest Waterworld for the 2600, MUSHA for the Genesis,VAY for the Sega CD, Street Fighter Collection for the PS1 and Hotel MArio for the CD-i

I've also found several systems there including my boxed 32X, Colecovision, Panasonic 3DO, CD-i, and a few 2600's and Gameboys. Plenty of peripherals too, my SNES Superscope and Saturn driving wheel come to mind.

I've also found a boatload of stuff for my other collections there too, especially records and nabbed my daughter tons of kids videos and 2 HUGE Barbie houses.

I'm a little sad but my trusty thrift shop sent me off with one final sweet score. As I posted in the Trophy forum I found a CED Player, a Turbo boardgame and Bushido Blade and Street Fighter Collection for the PS1.

So long old friend and thanks for the many treasures I've unearthed under your roof over the years.

That's too bad. I'm sorry to hear that. I kind of know how you feel. When I was serving in the military...I would move place to place every 2 to 3 years. Colorado was the hardest place to leave, as they had some awesome game shops/thrifts/pawns/etc.

Well, hopefully another thrift will come in it's place.

I've always avoided asking you in the past because I didn't want to horn in on your territory, but which thrift store is it?

My condolences. I hope you find a new shop that'll prove equally useful in the future girl

That sucks. Sounds like you kept them in business.

It was called The Commulity Thrift Shop and was on the corner of Plymouth and Middlebelt in a strip mall with Office Depot and Party City.

And it's kind of funny that you never asked because of all the thrifts I go to that would be the one I'd conveniently forget to mention. It was a freakin gold mine!

oh well, maybe it's closing will improve the selection in a few of the other shops in the area.

Son of a bitch.  I just started going there.  I've been in there three times, and every time they have had something.  Now I feel empty too.  Cry

Sorry to hear that it's closing Den, but I always think change is good, and like you said, this may lead to more finds at the other thrifts.

Den has so many games that it is hard for him to find stuff to buy at the store. Since he isnt paying to keep them open anymore they have to close down.  |D

I went in there yesterday which was the official last day and found out they are actually moving to a new location. the new location is over an hour away from the current one. I might try to check it out but it's definately off the weekly stop list.

I didn't find anything which is good as the place was packed and I'd probably have been in line at least an hour.
