I like the system, it just will take alot more votes to even out the scores.  What supises me is two of my fav games are rank in the bottom 25. Bayou Billy and Silent service, to me were both good (not great) games.

I liked both of those games as well  Smiley But like you said, it will take more people voting in order to even it all out.

Another question to ask regarding criteria is how much play time should we have put into the game before we give it a score? Do we have to play through all the modes as well?

That's really up to you. I look at Izrets response and agree with him. If you like a game, then rate it how you feel. If you dont like a game then rate it appropriately.

I just want people to be fair about this. For instance, if Sonic  is rated high and you are a Sony or Nintendo fanboy, dont give it a crap rating based on fanboyism.
I know this has happened with a few games on the list, and I wont say which...

So ultimately, rating is up to you and if you feel you can rate a game. I probably wont rate a game that I have only played 5 or 10 minutes, but I will rate a game if I have played it enough, even without trying everything in the game. As long as you get a good idea about what you are playing  Wink

Rating games like this is tough.

For instance, I just got Burnout Revenge last night.  I really liked it, I'll probably end up giving it a good score.  But then I was reading a thread on the Xbox Live forums and the general consensus is that this is definately the worst of the Burnout series.  I haven't played any of the other Burnouts though, so I'd probably rate this higher than someone who's played all of them!

But over time with lots and lots of reviews it all evens out.

The good thing is, you can go back and change your personal score you gave a game. Sometimes "the honeymoon" period of a game makes you give it a higher score than it may deserve. Then maybe a year later you go back and play it and notice it wasnt the 85 you originally gave it.

IMO Burnout Revenge is wortha 90.
I gave Burnout 3 a 90 too.(Just checked i actualy gave this a 100)
I like the new features in revenge like traffic not killing you when you touch it.
But i liked the old features of Burnout 3 in the crash mode.
With the heart breakers and multipliers better than the crash mode in this version.

Make your own opinions.
Don't base your desicions off what others have said.

It is all a matter of preferance.

Here is my work on Burnout 3 for PS2

SMB 3 is hands down the greatest Mario game, and not for nostalgia reasons. The levels, power-ups, everything about the game was superb.

And SMB 3 IS in fact the highest selling game of all time according to the Guiness Book of World Records(2001, but I doubt this has changed). You may be referring to all the variations of Tetris such as the Gameboy version as well as NES.

Just added a bunch of ratings and comments to my collection. I only rated and commented on those games I have a solid familiarity with.

Sims is the best selling PC game, which sold 8 million units or 24 million when combined with all expansions.

SMB3 sold 18 million copies.

Super Mario Bros (1) on the nintendo holds the guinness world record for highest selling video game - 40 million units.

Units sold don't mean anything though, as the pop music charts can easily illustrate.

Personally, I still believe SMB 3 is the worst when considered against SMB, SMW, and M64.

Nice. I'm going to have to go back and check my 2001 Guiness book because I am more than 100% certain it listed SMB3.

And two side notes. The new side scrolling SMB looks like it plays more like SMB3 than SWM by the video that leacked.

Also, Phantasy Star is awesome and underappreciated. The only thing that would have made the game better would have been maps for the dungeons.

You forget that SMB was sold with the system as a pack in for quite some time.
Although there may have been a SMB3 packin i am forgetting aswell....

I can't believe we have so many top games that are sub 90%
It is good to see some of the changes in that list though.
Especially new titles and not just the old ones moving in place.

I didn't forget that, talk to Guinness, they are the ones writing the records.
