ya know Tan, your reply could very nearly be copied as is to the game pages for GH1 & 2. flesh it out a bit and we've got a review and or overview.

I would never presume to feel qualified to write a review for a game I haven't completely beaten yet. Still things to unlock, modes to finish etc. I'd be leaving vital things out. You know that's the biggest problem with game reviews these days, they don't spend enough time with these games to give a well-rounded perspective.

Thanks for the info and link Tan. I'll have to try the vid a bit later since it keeps buffering constantly. I'm dl'ing a few things off SS right now so I suppose that's eating up most of my bandwidth.

Has anyone tried out the new songs on the 360 version yet?  I'm planning on picking up the 360 version as soon as I can get enough scratch together to buy a 360.

Also, has anyone actually bought any of the song packs yet?  I was wondering if they use the GH 1 hammer on/Pull off mechanic or if they are using the improved one from GH 2.

Life Wasted by Pearl Jam is the only one I've tried. I'm going to Phoenix place friday night so I'll get to play the rest.

oh... FUCK FREYA!  I hate that stupid song. I'm stuck on that piece of crap on expert.

I have the 360 version.

Life Wasted.
Dead!
Billion Dollar Babies
The Trooper

and I forget what else are exclusive to the 360 version. There are 10 new songs total, though.

I really can't say if the hammer-ons or pull-offs are similar to the PS2 GH1 or GH2 because I'm not as familiar with either of them.

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!

I beat Freya this morning. Feels like I've got HOURS invested in trying to beat that stupid song on expert. The frustarting part was that after that ordeal  knocked off the next 3 songs I tried on the first attempt

Last Child
Crazy On You
Tripping A Hole In a  Paper Heart

I was at phoenix's place friday night and got to REALLY try out the 360 version. I played all 8 liscensed tracks on hard and beat then all. It took 2 tries to beat the Trooper though. I'd have to say that one is the most fun of the new songs, though I am biased towards Maiden.

Dead was really good too and actually was performed by My Chemical Romance. It wasn't that hard though. I've watched it played on expert on You Tube and it features a lot of 3 button chords that look brutal.

I was surprised to see a Rick Derringer song but Rock and Roll Hootchie Coo was to me the second most fun song to play of the new ones.

The rest were still fun but REALLY easy.

I still have an issue with the guitar though. I did get a little more used to it after a few songs but it still felt a bit awkward compared to the PS2 guitar. phoenix said the buttons are closer together, I'm sure that's what was throwing me off.

And the fret bar is a little shorter on the X-plorer guitar than on the PS2 SG.

SOMEONE FINALLY DID IT!

A real left handed Guitar Hero controller! Once I get the game, I'm definitely modding my guitar to be like this. It's really tough to play the game left handed because the whammy bar gets in the way a lot, but now it's right where it should be.

I'm left-handed as well but fortunately for me I'm fairly ambidextrous in most things. Easier that way so I don't have to drag a leftie axe everywhere I play the game.  Tongue

Jimi never had a problem with that whammy bar being in the wrong spot.

Just go into settings and set it up to play with "Lefty flip" on.

it's the whammy bar being above the strummer when you flip to play left that's giving them trouble.
