i live in new york and frequently go to the palisades mall. eb games were selling some nes games and they never have anything older than n64. so i asked one of the employees if they were accepting NES games for trade in and he said, "yes, in fact we just had some trade in a batch of games earlier."

then i asked another employee later on if all eb games were starting to sell vintage games and he replied, "no, we are only carrying those games, because that is left over stock. our warehouse shipped the remaining nes stock to some of their bigger money making stores."

okay, so now i am wondering why were there no doubles, no sports games, all popular titles, all with the nes dust covers & in excellent condition. could this mean that maybe this guy doesn't know what the he77 he is talking about? i hope so, as i would love to have another few stores to hunt every few weeks.

just off memory, the games they had were:

super mario/duck hunt
super mario bros 3
kung fu
donkey kong classics
hogan's alley
m.u.s.c.l.e.
can't remember the other six.

please let me know if there are any eb employees here that know anything about this. thanks.

EB game stores is discontinuing their stock of NES games.  If you look at the website, you will see that they only have like 40-50 games left in the warehouse even.  I wasn't quite sure, so I called the EB customer service, and they are in fact going to stop carrying the older games.  This includes anything before N64 basically.  Not a great thing if you ask me.

Probably cause they got bought out by Gamespot. Gamespot seems to hate old games. They don't even carry used PC stuff.

I can tell you as an old sm of eb that my store carried old games because I wanted to. The inventory is actually up to the DM to decide, but if the sm is passionate enough about the older stuff he can keep it in his store. So chances are if you found an eb that carries old stuff the sm had something to do with it.

As for the gamestop buying out eb and hating old games. that is true, once they put thier full gribs on the eb stores no more nes snes or genesis will see the light of day. Ugh!

Thank you NESJunkie for the great reply. I guess I will just have to keep checking whenever in the area.

Mezmoron, I never once thought about checking their website. I'm sure now the hard to get games are long gone. :-[ are all the 40 - 50 games sports titles?

On the EB site, God of War is finally down to $19.99. I'm going to have to find a copy.
