Booth babes are apparently not going to be allowed at E3, starting with this year's show.  I can't say that I am upset.  It seems a bit odd to restrict it, since the show is very much an adults event, and it's not like the girls were walking around nude....  but I'm glad that they will be gone.  I've seen far too many photos of middle-aged pot-bellied dorks that are balding, standing next to young, sleazy, and scantily clad women with fake smiles that cover up the fact that they'd really like to vomit on said middle-aged dorks.  I'm glad I won't have to deal with that anymore.

Regarding the reasoning behind this....  My guess is that it is an attempt to clean up the tarnished image of the video games industry with the general public here, especially after all the recent scandals.  This could be a good political move for the gaming biz (or the ESA is just trying to cover their collective ass).

I thought they had announced last year that they were debating removal of booth babes?

Apparently the rule has been on the books for quite a while now, but starting this year they will be giving fines of $5,000 per violation.....  so developers will likely pay attention to the rules now.

Sounds good to me.  Yea the women are nice to look at but it's the game that matters.  Like someone above said half naked women are promoting bad games!  No wonder we have so many shitty games.

But what about for the new Tomb Raider? Will they allow sexy babes for games starring sexy babes?

Shouldn't she be in her mid-40's by now?

Anyways, they will be missed.  No more booth babe threads on RFGen is guess. :-(

No booth babes at E3.
They didn't say no booth babes at other conventions/gatherings.

Booth Babes should have unionized to prevent such a thing from happeneing.

I am both saddened and glad to see this.  Booth babes are definitely nice to look at, but they distract from the point of E3: games.

Bah, games are fine and dandy, but they last all year. There's always a game to play but Booth Babes were something to look foward too. And now they're g-g-gone Cry Cry

I bet that back in the day Sega would have gladly paid this fine to be the only ones with booth babes at the show. It would be great publicity.
