Because the year has ended, and everybody likes lists, I decided to open this topic.

What are the best games released in 2005?

I haven't played a lot of games released in 2005, because I'm too cheap to buy new games and most just didn't seem worth it. I did however really enjoy, in no specific order:

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory (xbox)
Civilization IV (pc)
Jade Empire (xbox)
Glimmerati (N-gage)

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Mario Kart DS, and Age of Empires III are the only games that came out in 2005 that I can really say I've played and made much of an impact on me.  Serious Sam II was also good.

Hmmm
I am going to have to be blatantly bias and say
Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks and MK: Deception.

Mario and Luigi Partners in Time is a really great game.

I didn't play a whole lot of 2k5 releases though.
There where alot of good looking games that came out too.

Hmmm, I just realized how few new games I've bought this year.  From the few that I have actually played, Dragon Quest 8 and Star Wars Battlefront 2 would be at the top of my list.

I played Jade Empire a bunch and liked that.

Just beat Call of Duty 2 and that was short but good.

5)Animal Crossing: Wild World - It sure does take up a lot of your time, but then there isn't much different between the new game and the original. (Aside: If anyone has modern or kiddie furniture they want to give me in exchange for something else, PM me)
4)We Love Katamari - Original was extremely novel, sequel is still novel I guess. Lots more to do, and it has goals other than get the biggest katamari by a certain time. Music was not as good as the original though.
3)Mario Kart DS - What a fun Kart Racer, Wifi mode is disappointing though, not because of the content, but rather how stupidly good people are.
2)Mario & Luigi 2: Partners in Time - This game kept me glued to the DS for a rather nonstop period. A novel play mechanic and story led to a rather enjoyable experience.
1)Meteos - Something Novel, something addicting, kept me extremely attached to the game. Simply one hell of a Puzzle Game, and damn I think it was the best game of 2005.

I think that, though technically this is the only 2005 game I've played, I will go with Resident Evil 4.  I have been playing this game ever since Christmas. I love it and I have never gotten into a RE game before.  Oh, my vote is for the GC version.  I don't know what differences, if any, the PS2 version hold.

based mostly on the multi player experience I'll go with Far Cry: Instincts and Medal of Honor European Assault. I've had a lot of fun with these 2 games.

also go with Animal Crossing Wild World. just as addicting as the original, though I still don't know why.

I'll also put in votes for Far Cry: Instincts, MoH: EA, & Jade Empire.

Fire Emblem for Game Cube is very good as well.
