The problem was not Matt's strength, and I would put money on Gracie having more endurance.  Gracie was doing well on his feet.  However, once they started to grapple, Matt simply outwrestled him.  Gracie was never that good IMHO.  The only reason people liked him is because he beat a lot of no-bodies.  Once people like the Shamrocks started popping up, he couldn't hang.
