How do the stores such as funcoland figure out how much they give for used video games?

No idea honestly. I have buds that are managers at GameStop but even they have no clue.

I do know that some game values make no sense what-so-ever. I just traded in some games at EB here in Winnipeg so I could grab up 2 360 games. Here's what I traded and the store credit value (which is always higher than cash).

DS:
Goldeneye $15
Nintendogs (all 3, $25 each)

XBOX:
NHL 06 $15
Pariah $10
Unreal Championship 2 $5

**NOTE** I actually -made- money on this deal. I paid less for the games when I bought them in the states...lol Keep in mind those prices are in Canadian dollars...

I thought all of the Funco  lands had been converted to gamestops by now...

In anycase most places give you 1/4-1/2 of the price they will resell or try to resell it for.

Trade in value goes by how popular and new the game is. Plus how many the company has in stock.

Next time you're going to sell DS games, let me know before you get yourself ripped off by GameStop.  I wouldn't have been interested in Nintendogs, but I would have bought GoldenEye from you at that price.

I took Killzone, Way of the Samurai and Medal of Honor: Rising sun to EB games about a month after Killzone came out. They were going to give me 8 count 'em 8 bucks store credit. I scorpion kicked salesman and walked out. Don't go to EB.

Yeah...national chains suck for selling/trading stuff.  If you're in Indiana and find a Mcvan's store, go there to trade in/sell games (cause you'll obviously just be driving through Indiana sometime with a bunch of games you don't want) because they give mega moolah store credit.
