Finally, it's official.

Article: http://www.gamesarefun.com/news.php?newsid=5838

Quote
Nokia, creator of the N-Gage system, has recently announced that they will be avoiding mobile gaming for the next few years and as such will not be building any more new N-Gage models.

The N-Gage, which was released in 2003, was a failure from a market perspective, garnering disappointing sales numbers - according to Antti Vasara, Nokia's vice president for corporate strategy, "N-Gage is still being sold but it was not a success in the sense of developing a new category." Therefore, the company has decided that mobile gaming will not be a focus until at least 2007, when "screen sizes and quality will be much more conducive to mobile gaming systems by 2007."

Vasara goes on to say, "We learnt that people want to play games on all devices. As such we are integrating the gaming software into Series 60 phones."

That's a good way of putting it.

Too bad, it's a pretty cool system. The only problem is the small screen.

Nokia had plenty of developers; Sega, EA, etc. Lots of big names. But the promotion sucked and well, the thing was confusing. What is it, a phone or a game boy?

Most places around here stopped carrying it almost a year ago.  Who still sells it?

Rifts isn't out yet and I hope it is released.

I talked to a guy at Rogers yesterday and he said they are still selling N-Gages but not nearly as many as they did a few months ago. They're going for $125 CAD.
