I wouldn't go for it myself - pretty expensive for a lot of stuff I'm not interested in collecting.

Ive comr to the conclusion that one will never get out of a collection what one invested unless  you found all the items at yard sales or got extremley lucky..I know I have a lot more invested in my nes collection than I could ever get out of it.

Unless you buy in large lots then sell of one at a time.

But yeah in general I would agree with you. I am glad I don't colelct for investment reasons. LOL

It really depends on the time span between when you bought your items and when you sell them.  I bought all of my holy grails for cheap prices around 9 years ago, so if I were to sell my collection now I'm sure I would be getting more than what I paid for everything.  The only part where I know I won't get as much as I paid for it are the accessories, because many of them don't sell for a lot of money, yet they cost a lot to acquire thanks to the shipping costs (especially when overseas) and the fact that joysticks are normally sold on an individual basis, rather than in lots.
