Listened to the podcast last night. Wow, did it ever get my mind buzzing with thoughts and memories. Thanks guys.

A few thoughts of my own-

-In 2013 I was lucky enough to attend a Distant Worlds concert. It was definitely worth it and hearing you guys talk about orchestral scores brought back lots of memories. If you like music from Final Fantasy or orchestral game music it's a must hear, or attend if possible.

-One of my favorite licensed soundtracks is NASCAR Thunder 2004. Crabby, you might especially enjoy it. Lots of metal, and introduced me to one of my favorite songs, "This Time" by Depswa.

-Can't believe no one mentioned Tim Follin, one of the pioneers of great game music.

-I'm with you, the Gran Turismo's have great music, the opening to GT2 is iconic because of "My Favourite Game", but  I also love the opening to GT4. At the time it came out, I was taking a music composition class, and we were encouraged to share examples of new music to others in the class to get everyone thinking about different sources of inspiration. This was before the days of walking around with internet sources, so I actually got permission to take my PS2 into the class and hook it up to a TV in the class to share the operatic "Moon over the water".

(during that class I also wrote a setting of the opening theme to NGII for brass and piccolo. don't know how, but the trumpeter nailed the high, fast section)

I really get into VGM, so I could go on and on about it, but a genuine thanks again for stirring up that obsession in me.

Favorite song from a video game or soundtrack from a video game?

I can at least answer in here for my mistake! Favorite song is just waaaaaay to hard and depends on the day for sure. Here's 3 of my all time favs, but there's like 2 dozen more I might say depending on the day.

Favorite overall soundtrack would probably be Mega Man 3, Mega Man 9 or Mega Man X.

Listened to the podcast last night. Wow, did it ever get my mind buzzing with thoughts and memories. Thanks guys.

Thanks for all the awesome feedback and memories!

Tim Follin definitely has some awesome stuff! With the focus being on more modern stuff I didn't get too many chances to gush about NES/SNES stuff, but he did do the arrangements for Rock n Roll Racing so I indirectly gave him a shout out. This is one of my favs by Tim:

I checked out the NASCAR 2004 soundtrack and it's all stuff from an era of Metal that just doesn't do anything for me. Never been a fan of most of the 1990s and 2000s Metal scene. Thanks for the recommendation though was happy to explore something I missed.
