Great Douglie! What did you think of Quest of the Avatar? Air Fortress is a tough game on the second loop especially, but once you know your way around it's pretty fun too.

I finally finished grinding up my character on Ring King and took on the Rankings and Tournament. Probably overdid the leveling up a bit, but was able to make quick work of both modes when I finally tried them. Found that if you get your character in the bottom left of the ring it's pretty easy to time your hits when the opponent charges you which is massive damage and getting 2 or 3 in a row is often a 1st round KO.

I really liked it, the virtues took some time to master. Spiritualality took the most work having to revisit the shrines to mediate. I was thinking of doing the other Ultima, but thought I would do an action game for a change, air Fortress is tough, I got to the 5th station and keep dying, But the password system helps.   It looks like it's down to just the 3 of us playing?

Had some time to play some NES games. I went through the list and played a bunch of them but was only able to finish Predator for now

Beat two more games from our list recently. Firstly was Magician. Very overlooked game. If you're into King's Quest style games it would probably scratch that itch. You gain experience by finding specific items or talking with specific people which allows you to cast more spells that you can either buy from scroll shops, find in chests or learn from NPCs. It's one that I could definitely see myself going back to and try to get the best ending (I was one quest away from doing it!).

Next up was Tecmo Cup Soccer which just blew me away. Had no idea this was an RPG instead of your typical soccer game. Very solid soundtrack, super interesting game play and awesome style to it. Kind of held back by a few things like a weird leveling system and awkward map controls, but so much potential.

Played through Tecmo Baseball yesterday and today. Only have to win 7 games so it wasn't too bad. I couldn't find a pitching or hitting exploit so I had to actually play good and pay attention. Lots of restarts because of that, but eventually persevered. Was ok for the most part, the fielding was not my favorite, but the rest was solid enough.

Beat Baseball Simulator 1.000 this morning. Extremely impressed with it. Super fun, can play through as a serious team if you like, but also has leagues with crazy batting and pitching skills. Definitely top tier sports game.

I've been very strict about keeping to NES playing and always check what I'm playing for my personal list against the Rfgen one. Should have several more to cross off over the coming weeks.

It gets tough in the late game. Stick with it! I'm trying to finish up Little Ninja Brothers currently

Didn't think I'd finish tonight, but woo hoo Little Ninja Brothers is done. If the boss fights were a massive headache this would be a really neat little RPG. The boss fights though really just come down to a ton of luck as they all have way too high a chance of dodging attacks and most of them have status effects that make your character unusable for multiple turns. The last fight in particular took about 5 hours worth of attempts because of all the backtracking involved with each failed attempt. Really was fun and silly otherwise and the regular combat is pretty decent.

Played through the Tournament for Legends of the Diamond.  Its actually a pretty good baseball game for the NES. Its got challenge to it but it doesn't feel like the computer is reading every pitch like it does in other NES baseball games. Its still pretty tough to get strikeouts so you usually have to settle for flyballs and ground outs. The game has some funny moments like when your batter charges the mound.

Awesome! Super thrilled to have someone else still picking away at the list with me!
