Pipe Dream
is done. What a frantic puzzle game. The first few levels lull you into thinking that it will be a fairly simple puzzle game, but the intensity picks up extremely fast the farther into the game you go. I loved it, but I can see some players getting frustrated by the later levels.

Contacted Ikariniku about letting me take on
Magic Darts
and he gave me the O.K. It's now done (didn't take a pic after each event but I did complete them all). It's a decent darts sim for its time, with some added flavor. most of the extra detail is in the form of easter egg type events, like hitting a fly buzzing around the board which turns your character into the creepy looking alien pictured.

A query on a victory condition.
Condition for Highspeed is stated as beat the high score.
However, it seems there is an actual ending to the game. I believe the conditions are as follows. Upon beating 14 mini games (7 of each type I guess), a rocket ship shows on the table. Hitting the ball into the rocket launches said rocket and the screen will show a message saying you’ve beaten the table.
As the game has a completion screen this seems more sensible that trying to beat the high score. Especially as, looking at the end of MexicanRunner’s video, he only got half the high score on his completion run. And that took him 30 hours to achieve.
Thoughts?
And no I haven’t completed it and am not anywhere near doing so. So don’t get excited

I watched the Longplays video and wondered the same thing. Guy played like an absolute pro for over an hour straight, got the rocket ship, and it was still only good enough for 3rd place on high scores.
But then, I looked up Nascar on Crabmaster's channel, and it popped up High Speed. Might have to have him try a repeat performance. Much props Crabby for pulling it off.
I've been going through the games still available that I have (which is a very dwindling list), and at least trying out what I have to see how difficult progress is. High Speed seems daunting, and Bill Elliott's NASCAR Challenge could be real trouble due to bad controls.

Sorry I've been a bit behind. Had a couple hectic days. Should be able to catch up today. I'd be fine with you getting the table condition of launching the rocket on High Speed as a victory even if you don't hit the High Score. I was fortunate in my run years ago that I did both in one run so I didn't need to decide which counted. Getting the rocket to launch is pretty difficult by itself. I spent a lot of hours on that game when I did it. My review plate is nearly clear so I'm almost ready to jump back into NES again. Can't wait, really craving it lately!

Alright should be all caught up once again!
Great job EZ Racer! You'd probably like Bioshock a lot. It's basically Pipe Dream with some short shooting sequences in between the puzzles

So unfortunately out of what's left, the games I have easy access to (including claimed games) are
Lolo 3, Bill Elliott's Nascar, Bump n' Jump, Casino Kid, Cobra Triangle, Ferrari Grand Prix, F1 Built to Win, Galaxy 5000, Gauntlet 2, High Speed, Spelunker, Mario Bros 2, Tecmo NBA, Totally Rad, and Wrecking Crew
.
This is not meant to be a quasi-claim list, as a few of these have kicked my butt enough I doubt I can pull them off, but with the year starting to wind down, thought it would be helpful to those participating with most of the library at their fingertips.
I have been playing
Spelunker
a bunch, and should be through it soon.

I don't know if the stale claim rule is still in effect, but I beat
Super Mario Bros. 2
this morning just to play a fun game for a change. Played entirely with Peach, of course.

Yeah. I don’t think that claim was ever gonna come to anything. I reckon most of the claims need removing now

Spelunker
is done. Held some nostalgia value for me as the 1st game I rented as a kid. Never could get anywhere though. A decent game that if not for a few flawwed mechanics would be a lot of fun. As it is though, too many frustrating deaths.

Yeah I think it's safe to drop all claims at this point. If you're the first to beat a game you get the credit for it. List updated. I swear that tonight is the night I get back to playing NES again!!

Played a few hours of Best of the Best again tonight. I still had my code for the final fight in the game with max stats on my fighter. Played around with the move sets, but couldn't figure out a method that even got me remotely close to victory. Such a massive jump in challenge from the previous fights I was winning without much issue. Probably switch it up tonight for something I can win to get my momentum going again and then come back to this one.

Ferrari Grand Prix
is done. For anyone thinking about playing this game, always use the 3-speed manual transmission, and not automatic. It's easy to use, and your car max's out 20 kmph faster than on automatic.
Solid racing game, one of the best the NES has to offer actually. I liked that there are times when you have to pick and choose your spots when passing (However, sometimes the computer goes too far with blocking and runs you off the road). And yes, Crabby, I agree with your comment back in Jan. about one of the music tracks on here being a hidden gem, probably 2 deserve that treatment.

I have watched much of the Mexican Runners run through all the NES games and I hate to tell you, High Speed was one of the hardest games for him to beat out of all 700 some odd NTSC games. Its one of the sleeper hard games, one no one knew would be so hard before getting to it and trying it. It took him about 30 hours to beat it. And remember/know this guy is pretty damn good at games, hes the Battletoads and Cuphead speedrun world record holder.
I wish anyone luck and if you do beat it your a badass. That game is easily one of the hardest lesser known NES games.
