10.  GoldenEye 007 (N64) (the remake doesn't count and it wasn't on Replay and licensing has prevented a release on any virtual store )

Yeah, I don't think that's cutting it especially seeing there was a remake and numerous games in the series.  If you are cutting out Blast Corps and Jade Empire, you need to cut GoldenEye out.

Emulating a game on another system (even if it's in a collection) doesn't mean it didn't die on that system. If that's the case, none of them count as I can play them on an emulator.

Theres a lot ways to look at this I guess. I didn't think all the James Bond games would count and people regard the N64 one as a classic. The remakes are not the same things really. They are more than just a graphics overhaul. Like some of the charm or cutting edge may have been lost in them thats in the original form. But who knows. Theres been a million golf games, you could pick Golf for the NES really.

And I'm a physical guy myself, so I prefer non-downloads as far myself goes.

I would count official emulation, as adding it to another console. But not modding your Wii and playing it on that.

As for goldeneye, that counts, the remakes was  not even done by the same company.  That was more of a ripoff then a remake.

1. Mega Man
2. Phalanx
3. Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja (SNES)

The PAL version isn't exactly high art, but the US release is pretty bad.

Stephen Kick: “The thing about classic games was that they were the first for an entire generation. Successive works are going to be important to individuals and even to groups, but never to a whole generation in the same way.”
