Sadly, CD rot is real. Fortunately, this guy exists. Most of this video is tech jargon that I'll never understand, but it sounds like good news for emulation and custom hardware.

I watched this a little while back. It's amazing at how far people can go with this.

Same, I seen it a bit ago I'm not big on the emulation part but I'd completely be down for a plug n' play mod board that can read from a flash or HDD. I don't mind modding but I hate when you have to physically remove parts like the CD drive to install a mod, I like to keep the system as functional as it can be with and without the mod. So, I started following all the guys social media hopefully he puts out his mod board soon and for a decent price.

same here, but i don't have any disc-based games older than PS1/Saturn era, and i've never had issues with those. maybe older CDs were more prone to it?

At the risk of changing the topic too much....
I have a stack of "Great Quality" CDRs I bought at Fry's around 1998 (maybe it was still Incredible Universe then?) which is just filled with disc rot. I have a very small number of games with possible disc rot. As I understand it, the bulk of disc rot occurred in CDs manufactured in a narrow time period in the mid/late 90's. Laser Discs get it too but I haven't noticed any on my discs.
