I like how you guys talk about Fallout 4 and are like, "I think Crabby would probably say this about it..." and he's on the call. Ha ha!

I actually put a TON more time into Fallout 4 since we recorded this and I would move it a little higher on the list now.

I'll be curious to find out if you feel the same after the ending.

Which Homeworld trailer was Bil talking about?

It's a series I've always wanted to get into but haven't yet.

Oh, and with all Bil's talk about pc gaming and the Odyssey2, he's quickly becoming the best podcaster ever, frankly, I don't know what you other two can do to catch up, I mean, maybe if one of you had 3 or 4 copies of Stadium Events, that would be cool.

To be fair I fade in and out during Fallout talk Wink

Who cares about Stadium Events?! So common. I literally have more copies of SE than I have Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt at my house.

Duke's dimissive deadpan "PC, master race, we get it..." while Bill discussed Borderlands 2 was maybe the best comedic timing in the show's history. Maybe that's hyperbole, I don't know, but you nailed it Duke.

Ughhh. So much truth in that. I felt like there should have been a little Mushroom dude at the end saying" Thanks for playing, but your princess is in another castle!"

If that was the actual ending I'd actually be interested in playing it just to see that.

I made a video with my top 5 games made in 2015, which are:
5. Tales from the Borderlands
4. Until Dawn
3. Rise of the Tomb Raider
2. Ori and the Blind Forest
1. Pillars of Eternity

Having to to pick the tops 5 games I've played this year is a lot harder. That brings the list of possible game up from 30 to... a lot more. But I'll try.
5. Saints Row IV
4. Ori and the Blind Forest
3. Wolfenstein The New Order
2.The Guardian Legend
1. Pillars of Eternity

And some honorable mentions:
Gun Nac
Rayman Legends
Rise of the Tomb Raider

I'm going to have to give Homeworld a look. I love strategy. And Space!

@EngineerMike: I'm right there with you. So unsatisfying in the end. Bil and I will have to have some spoiler discussion on an upcoming show.

@Pam: The Guardian Legend is a game that I had as a kid and played to death until I could beat it. I think the US cover art did more to hurt sales of that game than anything. Of course most folks will also know of my deep love of Compile shooters, so woohoo for Gun*Nac.

After enjoying the last Tomb Raider game (except for the silly ending), I'd like to get to Rise at some point. I've heard nothing but great things.

Guardian Legend is so amazing. It's the Dark Souls of NES Shooter-Action Adventure Hybrids. Completely agree on the cover art.

This cover image is the Dark Souls of cover images.

Though I think the PAL artwork is even more appropriate for the actual game:

Interesting show gentlemen.

@Crabby: I liked listening to you talk about Nocturne. I'm kind of a poser supporter of the series (ie one of those people who plays all the Persona games) but this sounds great.

@Bil: After the standard media routine played itself out for Batman: "This game is amazing 10/10 GOTY" one month later "This game kinda sucks, too much Batmobile etc" It was cool to hear you and Crabby geeking out about it. I loved all the original games, and I even liked Origins, so I know as soon as I have 8th gen hardware I'm going to grab this game on the cheap.

@Duke: This podcast was brought to you by the good people at From Software. Is there anyway you could play music under Souls games discussions so we know where to...

....fast forward?

Just finished the Kulpa's in Nocturne and had an absolutely amazing boss fight at the end of it! Gonna sit down again on Saturday and think we can finish the game. I'll let you know my thoughts after that is done.

Thanks for another episode!

I've tried to get in to the Souls series but even though I get a little farther each time it hasn't clicked with me. I have Dark Souls 3 pre-ordered so I'll give it another shot in March.

I have a love/hate relationship with Fallout 4. It feels too much like familiar territory after Fallout 3 and New Vegas. I've played for a little over 30 hours now and I'm enjoying the side quests more than the main story line. I am finding most of the enemies easier as I can one or two shot most enemies with my rifles.

@Bil: Thanks for reminding me about the Homeworld games and Deserts of Kharak looks great.

@Duke: You should grab a copy of Rise of the Tomb Raider. I would place it in my top 5 for last year. (It still has a silly ending but it is better than the last game.) I look forward to talking to you about Dark Souls 3.

@Crabby: Nocturne is a great game. Glad to hear you are enjoying it! You really have to play attention to what skills your monsters have as you can hit a brick wall quickly without it.

I forgot to mention that I just sent Duke some more Steam codes so hopefully we can do another give away soon.

Stephen Kick: “The thing about classic games was that they were the first for an entire generation. Successive works are going to be important to individuals and even to groups, but never to a whole generation in the same way.”
