In the database, there is a handful of NES games that say they were released in Israel. I've scoured the internet and can't find any reference to the NES in Israel.  Can someone point me in the right direction? Or is this just an error?

I know one of them. But is it just a quiz for Project Nintendo?

NOE was the one I knew.

And that's what I would have guessed for DAS. :-)

Is the G in GPS Germant or Greece?

The G in GPS is not Germany. Is it Great Britain, or Greece?

From what I understand GPS was used toward the end of the NES life cycle in quite a few European countries. I think what it stands for is just speculatoin.

Is it? Because while it was provided for low-print runs, it certainly had Portuguese and Spanish manuals, but the other language was English...
EDIT: Right, and as you mentioned, it shouldn't be Great Britain because it's PAL A, not PAL B...

Yes, it's Game Pak Software. Cheesy
Makes sense for the Software, but not the manuals. Those were just arbitrary Part #s where the distributor decided the languages in the manuals, or provided their own, and the default was English. I'm pretty sure it was for first-party print runs under 10,000 (I saw a quote once that mentioned 9000 copies of a particular game were ordered), but it may be just 5k.

FRG is meant to be for West Germany, as it was considered to be the Federal Republic of Germany until unification in October 1990. NOE is based in Germany, and since FRG was a reference to Germany pre-unification, they swapped to using NOE.

...isn't Nintendo fun?
