These games are pretty cheap for Xbox right now and have up to 4 player co-op play. I'm looking to buy one or both of them, but reviews I've read have been mixed.

Anybody here on RFG had a chance to play them or have feedback from someone that has?

I've played Hunter the Reckoning:  Redeemer for around 10 hrs always with the same 3 other ppl, and we never really finished it due to irritations, etc.  The game is fun in general, but there are some setbacks.  For starters, if you play with one or more players, then moving can be a pain in the ass.  The camera in this game doesn't stretch very far when playing with multiple players, so in other words, to keep the game moving at a steady pace, all players must move in the exact same direction.  Keeping in mind that this game has a lot of open areas where you can go in any direction, this hardly ever works.

The graphics are really good, special abilities and such are decent...the characters are somewhat unbalanced...I don't remember the name, but the character with the crossbow is superior to the other characters and will be able to "level up" one of his ablities a lot faster than the others....the monsters are detailed, and there's many different ones in the game, which is good.

Personally, I would recommend this game only if you want to either play it on your own, or can live with progressing slowly when playing with multiple people.  Wink

I have all three Hunter games, and I loved them, the first one is about 50 levels or so, and Redeemer is probably more around 20.  I personally loved them (especially the sound track).

freak_boy, is it kind of like a Baldur's Gate style of game where there's a lot of hack n slash and character level up?

so far, it sounds like it's best suited as a 1P game.

I know the question isn't addressed to me, but since I played halfway through Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance 2, I think I can answer your question Wink

Hunter the Redeemer is not very focused on level ups.  You don't "level up", you just increase your skills, and if I remember right, you only gain an extra ability every 12 levels of a skill.  By the time this happens for melee, you will have played around 5 hrs...so it's very slow leveling up, it's mostly just hack and slash.  You also can't choose anything when a skill levels up, so there's really no depth to it.  In that respect, it is quite a bit different from Baldur's Gate.  Personally, I liked the Baldur's Gate game that I played far more than Hunter the Redeemer.

Good info, Speedy. Thanks. I think I'll hold off on it until it goes down to $3 or $4.

The first one is pretty intense and it's hard as hell.  You cam get ambushed by over 30 guys at once.  Redeemer isn't nearly is hard.
