I found Atlas in a chest and a drop.  I didn't exactly spell it out but that is what I was getting at in regards to the items.  Big annoyance that when Shaggy was full it wouldn't go to the next person with open slots.

Yep, that was very annoying and I think that if your character had a full inventory, they would not receive the drop..... Apparently, this was fixed in Shining Force II.

Yup, if the item says it is smoking etc., take it to the shop to repair it.  I would do this constantly with the White Ring (heal everyone in the radius).

Did the extra outfits do anything other than make the characters look different?

Nope, only made the sprites look different on the grid. Their sprites in combat did not change.

Yup, the Blue Dragons and Chimeras, annoying!  I swear I had 6-8 times in a row where I missed which screwed me.  I rage quit!

I never had Desoul used on me.  Who casted it?  Another annoyance was you didn't know what the spells you got did.  I had a good idea but an explanation would have been nice.  That witch battle, Michaela or something like that, was when it started getting tough.  The constant healing is what did me in.
