Seriously. You guys can take the board game podcast idea and run with it... preferably far away.
While I joke about hating board games, honestly I just don't know anyone around me that plays. No opportunity, and probably not much free time to seek out new people that do. Find something that we could play online and I'll give it a whirl.

I gleefully enjoyed the brief discussion of tabletop gaming. Been enjoying jumping back into that style of gaming, with my good buddy Crabby. Our group appreciates Crabby's dedication too. Running the store, working a night job, and sacrificing the 2 or so hours of sleep beforehand, to game with us on Thursdays. The guy is a machine!
And to think. It all started months ago when I was whining to Crabby that I hadn't played Dungeon! in 25+ years, and wanted someone to play the copy I had been sitting on for a couple years.

Wow, the 32X being the "hardest" system to collect for??? Come on Bil, give an honest answer. Not even close. The NES is much harder and that's even attainable. The answer: the 2600 of course.
EDIT: I wrote this before I heard Duke's answer. High-five buddy.

Love the show. Good questions again. I would totally listen to a tabletop board game podcast. I've played Lords of Waterdeep a few times before and it's a fantastic game. I agree with Duke though, if you don't have people around to play the games with then you don't really get into them. These are not games you can play by yourself or even easily play online. Keep up the great work on the podcast and I'm looking forward to the next episode.

I think there's only 1 person that could conceivably have a complete 2600 collection right now.

Awsome podcast, guys. I've really been interested in homebrews as of late (though C64). Thanks for the reminder that NES ones exist. Fun fact, there is a little bit of politics (is that the right word?) on the compatibility section of the
Mad Wizard
page on retroUSB. It says, "Not compatible with stolen emulators like the Retron5."
Now I do understand the stolen quip, but could the Retron5 be specifically targeted without also nullylifying the software emulator on PC? A big part of these homebrews are the included ROM images.

RetroUSB is in the process of building a hardware emulator of sorts for the NES, so I'm sure some of that is the competitive nature. That site exists to sell physical games, so I don't think there is any conflict if he wants to cast stones against software emulators in general.
Do the authors of the games agree with that sentiment? I'm sure it's up to the individual. Some of them do release the ROM, and some don't. Personally, I'm fine either way. There's nothing wrong with wishing to profit from your hard work by only doing physical sales.

Cool, I did not know that about RetroUSB was doing such a thing. A hardware emulator? So a clone machine?

That makes a lot more sense to me. Looking over the rest of the homebrews this is the only one that bears the "no Retron" moniker, so I imagine it likely was Rob Bryant (or his partner). And considering that they released a demo ROM I doubt it's a jab against emulators in general, rather the apparent thieving nature of Hyperkin. Talk about a crappy thing to do. Colors my previous attitude towards Hyperkin.

Basically, yes. My understanding is that it will use an FPGA to emulate the NES/Famicom hardware.
