Yeah, Torasu joins automatically, but it's very late in the game.  In order to get Domingo:

Domingo is a great toon, but you need to get him out early and keep him in. He has good magic and mobility, and he can actually tank physical damage pretty well.  I used him until endgame.
I used Khris for most of the game, but admittedly she was pretty useless.  As soon as I got Torasu (who gets recruited late in the game), I started using him.  I would agree with the comment about ditching the healers and just using Healing Seeds, except Torasu gets the very useful Aura spells, which can heal multiple units in one turn.

I dumped Khris awhile ago.

She's pretty much your one dedicated healer from the beginning. The problem is that it is very tough to level a healer; sure, you get points for healing, but not many. I really wished they would have leveled the experience for healing out a little bit and made it more like finishing an enemy, but they do a nice job of giving you a healer near the end of the game.

I've been sticking with Gong and Lowe as my healers but I think I'll dump Gong for Domingo.

Disposed and I are recording the Shining Force segment tonight. Are there any topics regarding this game or its features that you would like us to discuss?

Last checkpoint is up, though it's pretty obvious right?

Shaggy has checked in, and Disposed and I have finished the game already. Everyone else, please check in today and let us know how you are progressing. We are recording tonight and always like to give our participants a shout out. Cheesy

How about which group of characters found effective?  My group primaraily consisted of Main Character, Tao (loved the group based Magic), Mae, Ken, the knight that started with a V ( laugh), Lowe, Gong (until my last 2 battles, took your advice and used Domingo.  I'll use him going forward, truly awesome!), Kokiro, Zylo (the werewolf guy if I misspelled), Gort, Diane, and Luke.  The 2 bird people sucked.  I only used them for 2 battles and said enough of that.  I have a lot of power in my group.  I always forgot that I could use weapons so I constantly used up my healers HP and hoped I could finish the battle  laugh

We did discuss the characters, especially noting which ones we thought were most helpful and endgame worthy. Our segment of the podcast almost hit the 2 hour mark! There was a lot to talk about with this game.
