Yeah, I think it's best to stick to one time period (i.e. the NES era & NES related books), since there is so much stuff out there.  Thanks anyways tho!  If anyone is interested, we could start lists for books for different systems.

VideoGames  & Computer Entertainment: Complete Guide to Nintendo Video Games

The strange thing is they connected VideoGame the first time and spaced Video Games the second. Maybe they like being on the edge...

Anyways this rates games on sound/music, graphics, playability, violence, overall.
