Just wondering if anyone has any good sited to get LEGAL free MP3's?  A lot of indie artists put out a couple of their songs for free to promote their albums.  I'm going to do a bit of looking later, because I used to have a couple great sites for this.  Anybody have any offhand that they go to?

I always get a bunch of popups and "free with membership" sites every time I look but here are a couple of good band sites with multiple downloads available between them and their label sites.

The Lovemakers are electro pop from San Francisco that remind me of the 80's band Dominatrix. www.thelovemakers.com

Paul Slocum is the guy who made the Synthcart for the Atari 2600. His band Tree Wave is basically him playing Atari 2600, Commodore 64, a Compaq 286 portable and a dot matrix printer, and his girlfriend sings. They've been compared to Stereolab and My Bloody Valentine and they're special because they're a retro-equipped band that's actually good. www.treewave.com

I really miss the old mp3.com, faults and all. It was so easy to post as an artist there. I have some new mp3's of my own I'll gladly make available soon but the free webspace I'm using currently doesn't allow mp3's.  Hopefully soon I'll have an announcement.
