It's been overdue for a while, but it finally happened: a wildfire broke out near my neck of the woods, in the Santa Cruz hills. It started around Loma Prieta-- yes, that Loma Prieta-- early this afternoon.

I have to ask, what is the significance of Loma Prieta?  I have never heard of it.

It is near the epicenter of the 1989 earthquake, also known as the Loma Prieta quake.  It was most infamous for interrupting the World Series.

Speaking of epicenters: apparently the fire originated at a residence in the Loma Prieta region. My guess is that it was a propane leak/explosion. It didn't help that temps were in the triple digits up there at the time...

Speaking of earthquakes the American Heartland has been shaking.

Actually, I live in Cambrian Park.

Well, whose fault is that? It's not my fault, that's for sure. I have enough faults as it is.

A recent exchange I had with a friend:

"You're such an ass-half."

"Why would you call me an 'ass-half'?"

"'Cuz it would take two of you to make an ass-whole!"

It's the only flavour I've seen here. The bottle has most of the colour. I'm pretty sure the drink itself is clear.
EDIT: Turns out that is the regular Mountain Dew, only with a different name.

Someone told me that default Mountain Dew is supposed to be grapefruit flavor... but I'm pretty sure he was thinking of Squirt instead. ANYway, are there no other flavors available on the east end of the pond besides default flavor?

Mountain Dew contains tartrazine for its coloring, which was under investigation for a period of time in the UK/EU. It's the same chemical that had the rumor of reducing male potentcy that you see in a lot of other soda products here in the US. That's why "Energy" is mostly clear, and the reason behind the rebranding was to try to make it more appealing to consumers due to the high caffeine and sugar content.

They import the US versions sometimes, and they have others, but they're just not popular.

Oddly, I've had this conversation with mumbo before I think, when we were discussing the difference between lemon lime sodas in the US vs UK.

According to their UK website, there are no other flavours here.

That's not something I remember. I could have bad memory though. Huh
