Hey gents!

I did a big upgrade to my awoken warlock costume from Destiny.  New makeup, additional armor, vinyl pants, and new gauntlets really made a big difference in the overall look.  Now, if only the EL component would stop failing I would have an illuminated bond.  My hunter buddy is on the second build of his hunter, and it's amazeballs!  He's even collaborating with another artist for 3D printed weapons.

Immediately noticed the vinyl pants - that definitely cleaned up the look for me.
What kind of EL wire kit are you using? Those things tend to be fairly stable.

There is a fine wire poking out of the "rope" part, and all I need to do is solder it to the copper lead and it should be good again.

I dropped it and it completely separated.  It was wonky before.  My buddy was having some technical difficulties too.  His "Radiant Dance Machines" weren't illuminating either.

Otherwise, it's come a long ways since Halloween.

Oh... you're not cosplaying as Nightcrawler from X-Men? Color me disappointed.

Speaking of color: it looks like you got a deeper tan... or blue, whatever... in the interim. You must be getting outdoors more often, huh?

I picked up a different type of face paint.  The light stuff was flaking off heavily after a couple hours.   I want to bring back the white wig, but I think it needs proper spikes to look good.

Do you think it's worth spending ~£21 to repair a ripped-apart Toshiba Satellite L500-11V?
It was thrown out in the rain by a next-door neighbour (I think he said it's because it wasn't charging) either late last year or earlier this year.
After drying it, it didn't work at all. Not surprising. Sad

Today, I decided to try turning it on again and somehow, amazingly, it booted right up into an Ubuntu Live CD I put in there. Shocked
It's even charging!

I'd need to replace the keyboard bezel/palmrest, trackpad, screws, speakers, RAM cover and HDD caddy. I've already got a spare 80GB (not huge, I know...) hard drive I could put in there.
There may be more to replace, but that's all I can see so far. One broken thing I can't replace is one ram clip, which limits me to 2GB RAM max.
It's still much better than the Compaq Presario 2500 (with a HP NX9010 motherboard and no WI-FI) I currently have.

I think it's worth fixing any computer, as long as it can be used.

not an amazing computer but if you can get it up and running for that little money then go for it, i don't see any downside.

I might be SOL with this... Seems the keyboard connector may have lifted pads. Cheapest motherboard I found was ~£60, much more than I'm willing to spend.

EDIT: Crap... I was going to attempt gluing the connector back down in hopes it still made connection, but the whole connector fell off with some of the pads... Cry

Yeah. I can still use it with a USB keyboard and mouse but that defeats the point of a laptop.
As for the trackpad, it's possible I might be able to repair it's connector... I might not even bother doing it now though.

Nah, I'm keeping it. Actually, I've just installed XP on it for testing purposes.
I guess I could sell the parts separately, but I just can't be bothered.

EDIT: Hah, it hasn't installed network drivers! I guess it's time to grab a USB stick... after I finish my pizza, of course...
