Just had one of those "Oh crap" moments when I really began looking at my collection again, so I need to spend some quality time moving games from the "not played" side to the "played" side (even if I don't complete it). Easier said than done, as many of you already know, so one never knows, I guess.
Santa got my boy a Wii U for Christmas, which awakened that often slumbering gamer in my wife, so that for the past week we've been having little Mario Kart 8 tournaments together (my wife, son, daughter, and myself). Man it is a lot of fun, though I feel that the gamer part of my wife will be going back into hibernation soon. But, hey, graduate school, right?
I've also been playing a lot of Transistor (at the suggestion of our own wildbil52) and am finding it fun, and in a very different way that I found Bastion fun.

More San Andreas (PS2) today. Getting closer to 100%. Still have to do the Mafia Casino Heist missions as well as mop up to Los Santos. Finished collecting photo ops and almost have all the Horseshoe

tried out some new games the last couple days.
Singularity is awesome, it feels like a mix of a bunch of different games but is really solid. will need to beat this someday.
motorstorm is pretty cool too, i really like the open feel of some tracks. load times are a buzz kill though.
red steel 2 is neat though a little corny. another waggle-fest on the wii.
edit: also played a couple hours of Battlefield 3. i haven't completely abandoned the idea of hitting colonel star 100, and finishing off the medals, but i'm so burnt out on the game that i can't bring myself to play it for more than once every few weeks at most. last night i reached colonel star 94 so i'm sure i'll hit 100.

Being burnt out on a game is how I feel about Titanfall right now. In order to progress, I need to reach in a pull out another 15 pilots out of their titans, which is a lot more difficult than it sounds. I am lucky to get one out of every two or three matches, which means another 3-4 hours of just grinding at it. It gets to be even more of a grind after that, but at least it is mostly just playing the game instead of focusing on doing a specific action, which I think will revive my love for playing the game.

I think the last time I checked in, I was still playing Ocarina of Time 3D and Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. I have since finished Ocarina of Time and have put down Chain of Memories. Despite really enjoying the original KH, I feel like the card-based battle system in Chain of Memories is just dumb.
Most of my gaming time now is being spent playing the recently released PS4 port of Final Fantasy VII. I have always considered this game to be one of my all time favorites, and replaying it nearly 20 years later, I still feel the same way. I can't seem to tear myself away from this one.
I was also currently playing Fallout 4 and Yakuza 5, but they're kind of on the backburner now thanks to FFVII. I was really into Yakuza 5, so I'll get back into it once I finish FFVII. I have mixed feelings on Fallout 4. It's a good game, but being the first Bethesda game I've played since graduating college and now being an adult with a full-time job, I feel like I just don't have time for this sort of meandering adventure. I'll probably finish it, but I'll just be heading for objectives, not really exploring as much.
After having recently finished two-player runs in both Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World, my friend wanted us to play through Super Mario 64 together, so we've been doing that. It's still a great game that holds up surprisingly well considering that it is an early 3D platformer, but it does feel like a bit of a letdown playing it immediately after the two aforementioned masterpieces.

Titanfall (X360):
I got 3 more kills on War Games to pop the achievement, now just to Gen10 and I am done with this one. Got my last 13 terminations to get to Gen8, but 100 wins to get to Gen9 will take forever. I will be grinding this one a lot just to get two achievements worth 0 GamerScore, but it will be a great completion.

SMB3 (Wii): I blew through the first five worlds just like I knew I would, and then took about an hour in world 6 before calling it a night. I was going to go for it on the SNES, but being able to play using the Gamecube controller was just too enticing.
Titanfall (X360): Grinding at this is officially getting on my nerves, I will probably take a break from it for a while and wait until I am back in the mood for an FPS.
BattleBlock Theatre (X360): 6 stages left and then the final 2 "Boss" stages and I am done with this one.

I swear I'm going to get the Final Fantasy 13 platinum trophy if it kills me. Now all I have to do is redo the last eight hours of running around, then do it one more time after that.

I did all of the grinding ahead of time. Now I just have to track down the 25 or so challenges I just did, but this time with the item that makes getting the target time cake, then make at least one of every item in the game, I think about about half way through that just from grinding and that's it.
I think I might die.
