I have never been part of a community that doesn't dismiss you due to having a personal life. I went away for a few weeks due to house hunting and other personal stuff and I was treated as if I never left. I've been on a few sites where if you don't participate 24/7 they ignore your posts etc. I enjoy my time here so many wonderful members.

If you become a regular on the boards and don't post for a while, you'll find that people will start to worry about you and wonder where you've gone off to. I'm currently wondering about the whereabouts of a certain member who hasn't posted in almost a month, and was last active on the site a little over a week ago.
