Today at GoodWill, I found some weird systems I didn't recognize.  The first is the Toymax Arcadia II, which is cartridge-based and projects images on the walls for use with a light gun controller.  The only cart I have is Duck Shoot II.  Apparently, the Arcadia II is the successor to the Arcadia, which had cartridge problems that caused the system to overheat and/or catch fire.  This caused a recall, and (I assume) the Arcadia II to be made.

Also, I found a system that just has "Power Rangers Ninja Storm" on it.  It is about the size of a Genesis 3, and has a cart slot and one (not two) controller ports.  It appears to be the same as a Genesis or VCS controller port.  The A/V cables are hardwired to the system, and it takes its power from batteries.  There was no controller or (sadly) game with the system.

I'm looking for more info on these right now.  If anyone finds anything, or (though unlikely) has one, let me know.

the Arcadia I have run across before, never with the gun though. If it works let me know and if I see any carts I'll grab them for you. If I'm not mistaken I think a local Meijers still has some carts in their clearance aisle.

never seen that Power Rangers thing before. I'm curious too to find out the scoop on that.

That'd be awesome.  Actually, even if it doesn't work, I'd be interested in picking up any carts you might come across and not want, as long as they are fairly cheap.  Let me know if you see anything.

I've seen a few late 1980's projection systems, but none with a light gun.

I bought one, in a clearance sale once from Argos, but it was damaged, and I had to get a refund (ex display model) very sad cos it would have made a nice addition to my collection/

I can't find ANYTHING on the Arcadia II.
If you could type up what that label on the front says i am interested in that too. (All i can read is "ARCADIA II")

I also don't know where the Arcadia 2001 comes in (released in 2001 go figure). Which is what i found a bunch amount of info for aswell.

But from what i read on the first arcadia (released in 1998) it was not the system itself that was the cause of the over heating it was the cartidges.
The original versions could over heat and the rereleases of the games fixed that problem. They were also a different color, orange.

Something that i did find odd was that everything that talked about the Arcadia and this problem referred to Duck Shoot and Deer Hunter as games that were the cause of over heating but also made reference to Meteor Attack(silver cart) and Fighter Attack(black cart).

O ya i could find nothing on the Ninja Storm console either.
I think it may have been one of those self contained consoles. My grandmother has one of those illegal 100 in 1 type consoles and it has a cartridge that came with it that plugs into the back of the controller/system.
I think that may have been along the same lines. It was all sold in one box but in seperate pieces with the forethought of possibly releasing some crappy new set of games for it.

The Arcadia II was released in 2001.  This is a problem because the Emerson Arcadia 2001 is well-documented and searching for the Arcadia II (of course unrelated) is futile, assuming there is even anything written about it online.

I just won this auction on eBay.  After it ended, I e-mailed the guy about the other two copies of the game and he said I could buy those too at the same price of $1 a pop.  So, for $6.50 I'm getting three copies of an Arcadia II game shipped to me.  I'll be sure to post any info I can gather from them when they arrive.

I just found a Toymax Arcadia. this one did not have interchangeable cartridges. it labeled Skeet Shoot but the game is a duck hunt. it has to be played in total darkness to work. I tried it a bit last night and it seems to work pretty well. it projects colored images of ducks randomly as the unit rotates around. when you hit a duck it displays an explosion of feathers. it quacks like crazy. the rounds are timed and you get 2 points for each hit that is registered on an LED counter.

I got it for $4 bucks.

Yeah I ended up buying the original Arcadia off eBay for pretty cheap.  I tried it out and it was kinda fun for a while.  My version does have interchangeable cartridges.  I also have Duck Hunt for it, though I don't remember there being an explosion of feathers.  Hitting the ducks did give another image, but I think it was something else.  I should check.

P.S.  The thing I loved most about the original Arcadia vs. the Arcadia II is that the first one had a MUCH cooler gun.  It was a full-length shotgun style gun that cocks to reload.  Very cool effect.  The Arcadia II may not catch on fire, but it loses points for having a wussy laser pistol gun.

Yeah Speedy, that is the Arcadia. The Arcadia II is the one that I have a picture of up above.  Neither has anything in common with the Emerson Arcadia other than the name.
