Yeah, I totally recommend card holders in 3-ring binders. I have
*goes and counts*
12 binders on the shelf holding my portable games, including GBA, GB, GBC, Lynx, Game.com, and Neo Geo Pocket. They work great, give easy access, and if you get the kind of binders with clear-sleeve outsides for labeling, you can make them look pretty cool too.
If only they fit Game Gear games...
They make 3-ring binder inserts that hold Business cards in a 2 x 5 grid. I am not sure exactly how tall a GG game is when compared to the height of business cards, but those might work better since GG games are too wide for the traditional 3 x 3 trading card inserts.

Wow, never even thought about storing GB/GBC carts in such a fashion. And I worked at a collectible cards shop for a few years, too. I have a nice stack of the card holder pages, too. Time to get busy...

Yikes-ah. Did you design and assemble each slipcover for your carts? If so, good on you.
I was thinking of getting a few of those view-binders and throwing some artsy video game collage-type stuff in the outside pocket inserts. I'm thinking of using a gray binder for the GB carts, and a black one for the GBCs. You know, so they correspond with the carts' colors.

Yeah I designed the art. Cut them out and glued them. Took about a week. Worth it in the end

russlyman - those cardboard sleeves look GREAT and appear to take up pretty much no space.
I use 3DS cases for GB games and DS cases for GBA. Art is either from TheCoverProject or made myself from box scans found online if TCP doesn't have something I need.

Not a week for each one I hope.
If I had the skill and patience myself, I'd make those large enough that a cased GB/GBC cart would fit in them.

Whenever I acquire DS cases, I'll throw in a loose loose GBA game with manual, go to The Cover Project site, print out a cover for it on photo paper, and put it in the outer case pocket.
So what kind of tinkering do you have to do to get a Game Boy cart to fit in a 3DS case?

The sheet I have in photoshop has 3 games on it. Usually takes 20mins or so to make the art and shrink it down than print and glue maybe 10mins. Yeah not to bad. It's tedious. I also do NES sleeves

I've never been able to make my printer print the correct dimensions for covers. If I could I would have done this for all my loose games by now.

For Gameboy games I used cassette tape boxes. I cut out the plastic that holds the cassette in and printed out custom covers for them. This worked for me since I liked to see everything all neat and tidy on a shelf.

I recall you posting those on the site some time back.
Maybe you could talk to The Cover Project about getting a cassette-case-sized covers page going...
BTW I have a preference for the 1.5-inch width binders, though I was gravitating towards the 2-inchers for a moment or two. Does anyone else here stick with a particular binder width, or does it vary?

In my card collecting days i prefered 1.5 or 2 inch binders. 3 and 4 had a tendency to have the metal ring end up crushing contents. on lower/higher inserts

Just did up my GB & GBC collection in binders. I did one for GB, one for GBC, and a third for my international GBs & GBCs. The 1.5-inchers hold up to 5 full pages of carts comfortably. Anyhting beyond that, the binder looks overstuffed.
But now I'm thinking about adding card pages that can hold my loose manuals. I know they used to make 3-card and 4-card pages back in the day, and those are the most likely ones to work. Now I wonder if I should include them with the carts, or put them in a binder all their own...
UPDATE: I found out they still have the 4-pocket pages, now i just gotta check the dimensions to make sure the manuals will fit.
I also found business card holder pages that might be good for GBA carts...
