I have an old PDA(like, black and green digital-watch quality screen old) that's still complete in the box around here somewhere I snagged from Goodwill.

Also, I'm reading all Zag's posts in the voice Weird Al used for Cheese Sandwhich on MLP now.

I prefer you read my posts in the voice Eric Idle used as Wreck-Gar in TransFormers: The Movie... which coincidentally features Weird Al's Dare to be Stupid in the soundtrack.




ANYway, time to whip out my latest retro-tech scores:

- Two TI-83 Plus Silver Edition graphing calculators with a carrying case, courtesy of a certain fellow RF Gentleman.

- CIB Hewlett-Packard HP 19BII business calculator with manual, $7.99 $5.59 with savings pass from the local Savers.

And not that you care, but I've picked up and flipped six regular-edition TI-83 Plus calcs in the last two weeks...

Pulled off a TI hat-trick at the local Savers:

To the left is a professional-edition BA-II business calculator. To the right is yet another TI-83 Plus graphing calc.

Aaaand front & center: a TI-5045 desktop model that I bought for a certain reason. Take a closer look, and you might figure out what that reason is:

A Calculated Industries GradeMatic 200 from 1988.  It's a specialty calculator for teachers with functions and buttons designed to make grading easier.  I haven't extensively tested its functionality, but it does still seem to work.

On a whim, I decided to check if Calculated Industries was still around.  They are!  They're still making specialty calculators for a variety of purposes.  The GradeMatic brand seems to be defunct, however.

I pretty much picked this up to make a post about it, so if anyone else is interested in this fine piece of calculator craftsmanship, let me know.  I'll ship it out, free of charge!*

Yep, CI's made quite an effort to fill niches in finance, real estate, teaching, and even cooking. The only ones that are really flippable, however, are the Qualifier Plus IIIx and the Mortgage Qualifier Plus.

Here's a clue... They seem to sell on eBay for ~£40. This one sold on eBay for... £107.55!

- Radio Shack Spell-'N-Math, $2.49: not content to merely rip off Texas Instruments' Speak-'n-Spell and Speak-'n-Math, Radio Shack ripped both of them off at the same time and combined them!
