I'm right there with you. With RetroZone's HDMI NES due out at a reasonable price this year and the Retron5, it seems like it will be tough competition. If they do a small run I would still anticipate a sell out due to the design.

I am often shocked at what Rose Colored Gaming charges for custom GBA's and carts and they sell out rather quickly.

Looks pretty awesome, but definitely expensive.  I saw a few FDS games, but it doesn't mention anywhere that it will play them.

It looks like the Famicom slot is situated where there would be no problem attaching an FDS RAM adapter.

not worth it at all...it's not like having HDMI support would do much for the games, they were still designed for 80s CRT tvs. you could probably get the NES, famicom, and FDS for less than that

I wouldn't pay 500 for this thing even if it didn't have input lag. It's not going to save a lot of space if you still have to use your original carts anyway. If you're worried about malfunctions, you could put some time in to learn how to clean the systems/games and disable the lockout chip which is easy considering I did it with 0 hassle. Hi fi audio? Just use a TV with audio outputs and connect some speakers to it and there you go, best sound quality an 8 bit system can have. The only other argument for buying it would be for aesthetic purposes which is really poor reasoning. This thing is a glorified Nintoaster.

The designer in me thinks its gorgeous, but I really like the styling of the original just as much, especially the door on the front.
I collect for the nostalgia, this just wouldn't scratch that itch.
I'm guessing this is made for hipsters who have the money to burn.

I wonder where they got the chips, think they salvaged them from old units? I wonder if that'll inflate the Nintendo bubble a little more, or are there so many NES/Famicom systems out there that it wouldn't matter if a few hundred of them were taken out of circulation?
