Last year or so, I broke a toy collecting vow I had made to myself. No Masterpiece Transformers. Don't get me wrong, I thought that these "supersized" but faithful recreations of their G1 counterparts, were simply amazing. But at anywhere from $100-200, I felt that this toyline was too costly, and also too large to display in my already bursting toy collection. Then last year Toys R us did this:

At $150 how could I resist? Masterpiece Soundwave and every Masterpiece  tape character from 1984? It was a no brainer purchase. Oh, and that one is sealed Zag. I regret not getting two at the time, but a guy cant always afford that.

Flash forward to this year when, my buddy who also collects, was on vacation and toy hunting for me. He found the Masterpiece Grimlock for me but when reporting that they were on sale for $80 instead of the usual $100, I splurged and got two. Which made me happy cause it meant opening one.

A couple weeks ago, I was on Toys R Us website and found another Masterpiece to splurge on. Yesterday they arrived:

Of course two, so one could be opened!

Nice toy scores. The TMNT figures are awesome! Would love to get the VHD for my collection. And the Zelda puzzle? Something new I want that I didn't know existed previously! The Cargo Plane is something I have passed up on in the past. I want it, and it's sweet, I have just put more focus on the rail end of Lego City.

The thing I like most there is the Hot Wheels Flintmobile.
I presume they're staying sealed?

I was glad that the newer TMNT figures have finally started to show up where I live:

Newtralizer is one my my favorite characters in the new series. Funny that he is voiced by Danny Trejo.

Slash is cool too, and voiced by Corey Feldman! His toy scale is wrong though, compared to the animated version.

Mutagen Man was just one I had been putting off getting for awhile.

That is actually a pretty sweet handheld. I like the neon green scheme.

It looks like the one I used to own... where the d-pad totally sucked balls. I really had to mash that thing to get ol' Paccy to turn corners. You'd have to go back to the 2600 to come up with a worse rendition of this all-time classic. Downright awful.

Needless to say, I sure hope it's a later and much improved version than the one I got...

Oh wow, how did I miss this? Masterpiece Prowl is reminiscent of the Alternators / Binaltech line, which came out right after the original Master Piece Optimus Prime, and were roughly to scale with the Master Piece line. Sadly, while the Japanese Binaltech versions sported die-cast metal, the Western-release Alternators were almost all plastic, save for the screws and bolts holding things together. None the less, they were a challenge to transform, even with the help of the instruction sheet.
