Any interest in Final Fantasy Adventure? It's the first game in the Mana series and plays a lot like the original Zelda mixed in with Final Fantasy mechanics (health, exp, stats, etc). It trends around $15 to $20 loose and can be finished in 8 hours.

I actually just watched CGR Undertow's review of that game last night and it does look very good. Is that on the virtual console? I would buy it and play it on 3DS. (EDIT: It is not on VC at this time.) Having said that I wouldn't mind a copy of the cart for my collection either.

I have a few FF games on Game Boy but I believe they are in the Legends series.

This looks great! With my Retron5 soon to arrive, it will be fun to play a great looking version on the ole telly. Technically a Retro title. Wink

Yeah, it's not available for Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console in any region right now. In fact, I don't think any of the Game Boy Final Fantasy titles are.
The Legend titles are the first titles in the SaGa franchise, while Adventure is the first title in the Mana series. I personally loved Legend after learning how the matrix worked for monster meat.

RPG Summer Slam, my friend. Or Grind-a-thon if you think that's a better name.

Cool, I still have my old copy of Final Fantasy Adventure from back in the day.  Never finished it though.

Ugh, I'd prefer to space the RPGs out this upcoming year. This summer got a little tedious, if you recall. Wouldn't mind doing a longer one over a few months though.

Agreed. That's easier to handle for everyone. I just nabbed a copy of FF Adventure on ebay so I'm all set for this one.

Definitely a game I'm going to be on the lookout for.

I had a $10 coupon thing in my Paypal so I had no hesitations for this game.

When you say "the first one" are you talking about this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ys_I_%26_II

Just making sure so I add the right game to the suggestions list.

This is complicated because the game you're talking about has so many different versions. It was on Master System, then was also put on a compilation (Ys I & II) which got remade and "enhanced" several times.

If I'm thinking of the right game I have it on Steam. But that version is the remake of the Turbo Grafx game.

EDIT

All the iterations of the game are beatable in 5-7 hours. I'll include this one because it's available on so many platforms and discussing differences between releases will be interesting.

I'm just browsing the Steam Sale. Half Life 2 is at a great price right now. Is anyone interested in playing that at some point?
