What model is that?
It's a 7501, the second one I have. The other two PS1's I have are 5501s, so nothing special. But it still beats paying 10-20 bucks, or sometimes more, for just the console like many people and places seem to enjoy doing around here.
Is there advantage to having certain models?
Other than the collectibility of having the first model released, people want the SCPH-1001 because of it's audio quality. When using the RCA jacks of that version there is a difference in the audio people seem to enjoy over that of the other models.
Stereophile once did a full review of the SCPH-1001 as a CD player. While it has been some time since I have read it, my summery (from memory) is that the DAC, the chip that converts digital audio to analog audio, doesn't necessarily measure well through instruments but does make things sound good regardless. It's like, that video game you know is bad but you truly love it anyway. For years audiophiles would seek this machine out because of its sound, they liked it better than much more expensive CD players.
For those of you who wonder if one CD player can sound better or worse than another, I can demo this at my house. I have two machines, in good condition, I'm pretty sure everyone would agree would sound quite different from one another.

Ni No Kuni for the PS3 is some game I bought (new!) because a friend in Japan is looking for RPGs in English and I am putting together a Christmas package for him. People on this site were talking about it bunches and it was on sale so I grabbed it.

If you're thinking to yourself, "those aren't RPGs" you are just committing wrongthink. They are. They totally are.
He does work for a snowboard magazine translating if from English to Japanese because he is a snowboard nut by the way.
I still plan on adding to this pile, Skyrim Legendary is high on the list. That should give him a mix of stuff to practice his English on.
