I had a nice surprise waiting for me when I went to my D&D game.  My friend Robert found these manuals in his mom's house and just gave them to me.  He knows I collect and he has no use for them so that was really nice of him.  I don't have any of them except the Mega Man 2 and the Kirby SNES one.  I also picked up 4 more N64 carts from Gamers HQ.  Indy Racing and Automobili were $3 each and Crusi'n Exotica and Destruction Derby were $5 each.  It was a pretty successful night all in all.

Entombed is a great 2600 title and has a very fun 2 player mode. I have a review for it on my blog, but you'll have to some digging for it. Smiley

My buddy isn't on RFGen, but I'm gunna make a post for him.

He got a working Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 arcade cabinet for FREE!

He does construction work and was working on this house that some guy had just moved out of. Apparently, this guy had several arcade cabinets that he sold but he couldn't sell the MVC2. I don't know why he couldn't sell it, but that's the story. Anyway, it was found in his basement with a sign on it that read "GET RID OF". Needless to say, my friend took his "garbage".

I don't know a lot about arcade cabs so if anyone wants to enlighten me, feel free.

The control board looks like it's from Street Fighter II, but it's been a while since I've seen one of those. Also, below is a pic of a black, plastic, triangular shape screwed into the board below the controls. He thinks that it's there to cover up a hole for a gun holster, like for Lethal Enforcers, but I disagree.

Nice Pickup!

It's too big for a gun holster, but it does look big enough for the cord for a gun.  If you look at Crabby's picture of Lethal Enforcers 2 a couple pages back you can see how big the gun holsters are.

The Marvel VS Capcom 2 owners manual can be found here:

http://pdf.textfiles.com/manuals/ARCADE/K-R/

Also want to say amazing score Crabby!

Damn it, that arcade stick is so familiar to my childhood... but I can't think of which one it belonged to. It looks like SF II Champion Edition, but it doesn't match.

Looks like a regular Happ joystick to me:

@ Crabmaster - I just noticed your sweet haul! I love Quartet and haven't played the arcade version since the late 80's. And that Dr. Mario machine is out of this world. I've never seen one!

@ Addicted - Thanks, I don't think he has the manual. I looked at the Lethal Enforcers II picture and it is definitely not a match, but I can't think of what that piece of plastic could be for. I didn't get good pics of the sides of the machine, but it's all painted (?) black.

@ Banana - Yeah, he's a huge Burt fan and my other buddy got him a framed Burt picture for his b-day.

@ Shadow - I remember it too. The names of the punches and kicks (jab, strong, fierce, etc.) relate to some sort of Street Fighter game. I don't think any other game used those names.

Could be a panel for the original Street Fighter. I seem to remember the "fierce" button. Huh??

@JerryGreenwood: The Marvel vs Capcom 2 looks to be a conversion. See: http://forum.arcadecontro.../index.php?topic=132618.0

I would suspect that it was originally a Midway/Williams game based upon the style of the cabinet. See: http://www.arcade-museum....e_detail.php?game_id=8754

The control panel overlay you pictured is very common for Capcom conversions from the mid 90s onward. See: http://www.arcadeoverlays...;c=383928&i=257261975 http://www.arcadeoverlays...p;c=383928&i=18635975

If you take a look at the original Street Fighter 2 you can see a marked difference in the control panel overlay: http://www.arcade-museum....e_detail.php?game_id=9814.

If you look at the klov listing for Marvel VS Capcom 2 you can see what a non conversion cab for Marvel VS Capcom 2 looks like: http://www.arcade-museum....e_detail.php?game_id=8637.

I would recommend you look under the control panel to see if there are any other drilled holes that you can match with something on klov. I would also take a look at the back and sides of the unit to see if you can find a tag listing what the game originally was.  http://www.klov.com

None of this should detract from that fact that Marvel VS Capcom 2 is a great game and one for free is amazing!
