Hey now,

I like how the Nerf gun has a picatinny rail with a carry handle/peep sight. It's very cute.

Just about every Nerf blaster sports at least one tactical rail for accessories. The Stampede that Optimus.Togo-- or is it Duke.Prime?-- is wielding sports six of them, one on the carry handle and the rest forward of it. Some tac-rail accessories are included with the blaster, including scopes and sights. the Stampede includes a riot shield-looking deal, as well as a combo pistol-grip/pop-out bipod. Others are sold separately, most of which aren't all that special; the only one I really dig is the red-dot "laser" sight.

All right, enough Nerf talk for now. It's time to unlock the old thrift-vault and reveal my latest scores:

- Nintendo Power Luigi's Mansion and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance guides, PSM back ish, and Game Informer back ish, $0.29 each

- BradyGames Gears of War guide, $1.99 $1.57

- CIB Green Dreamcast controller with VMU, $6.59: My discovery of boxed Dreamcast hardware and accessories continues. I picked this up at the same place I grabbed my almost-CIB Dreamcast console.

- Sealed Intec Slim Stand for PS2 slim, $1.99: a new piece of hardware for the RFG database.

- Atomic purple Game Boy Color with High Frequency battery pack and AC adapter, NASCAR 2000 cart, X-Men Mutant Wars cart and manual, $13.99

- CIB New Super Mario Bros. and Mario vs. Donkey Kong Mini-Land Mayhem, $3.99 each

- CIB WarioWare Smooth Moves, $5.99

- CIB Pokemon X, $19.99

- Piggyback Metal Gear Solid 4 Complete Official Guide, $4.99 $3.97

- Paper Mario Sticker Star folder, $0.29

- Sealed Neopets: The Darkest Faerie, $3.99

- CIB GameCube games, $1.99 each:

  - Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (Player's Choice

  - Mario Party 6

  - Legend of Zelda Four Swords Adventure

  - Star Wars Bounty Hunter
: My attitude's starting to shift regarding prequel-set Star Wars games. This one looked interesting enough-- and cheap enough-- for me to give it a whirl.

- And of course there's the obligatory Skylanders pickups:

  - Packaged Skylanders Giants carry tote, $3.59

  - Spyro's Adventure / Giants Portal of Power for 360, $3.99

I grabbed a few foreign releases this week, including:

- CIB Japanese LoZ Twilight Princess, $5.99: My first Japanese Wii title.

- Spyro Fusion (Spyro Orange) GBA cart, $3.99: My first European GBA game.

- CIB Kanji Sonomama DS Rakubiki Jiten DS game, $3.99: Betcha can't guess where this one came from.

- Frommer's Travel Guide GC cart, $3.99: picked this one up just for the hell of it. Speaking of hell: it's not easy to navigate through this "guide."

- CIB Final Fantasy Anthology (Greatest Hits) and Fighting Force, $3.99 each

Cool DS title - it's an English-Japanese and Japanese-English dictionary and trainer. Supports writing kanji and latin to teach you the alpha.

I figured you'd be the first to chime in on that one. Looks like I won that bet with myself...

Oh, and keep up the good stuff on the site maintenance.

Things have been extremely dry around here - both Craigslist and Thrift Stores.  And no Play 'n' Trade...Uhhh.  Nearly every listing has been about one of the XBox consoles, PS3 & PS4, and f'n gaming headphones.  Seriously, who spends over $20-$30 for headphones to talk over the internet where bandwidth, latency, and room noise from the speaking party makes it all sound like crap no matter what?  Don't get me wrong, I love my Sennheisers for playing guitar, but...ah, nevermind.  Stop trying to sell headphones in the Video Game category!

Anyway, thrift store:

Great Naval Battles Vol. III is CIB and even had some random other floppy discs included.

The Ultimate Doom and Final Doom (love this game on PS1!) were $2 ea.

Yes, I bought a Sponge Bob Plug-n-Play.  Metal Jesus mentioned it was fun, so it was worth the $3.  And the Namco 5in1 Plug-n-Play was well worth the $2.  It has Dig Dug, Dude!

CDWorld grabs:

SMS and Genesis fillers for cheap, although I NEEDED a Space Harrier that wasn't 3D to play on the flat screen in the bedroom.

I sent my copy of Abadox to a fellow RFGen membnorch that really wanted it a while back, so I'm happy to find a replacement locally.

And I should feel a little ashamed that I didn't have a Kid Icarus till now.

Oh, and Fatal Frame II!  A little less than eBay, but a title I've wanted for a while.

AND the randoms:

The NeoGeo Gold X Mega Pack Vol 1.  There may not be a Vol 2, considering the falling out between SNK and Tommo.

A cool little Pac-Man puppet for display.

And I hadn't posted the really cool stuff from the holidays.  I know pans, tools, a clock, shirts, and whiskey are not "scores" worthy of the site so not pictured.  The lady knows what I enjoy so I got a KISS official photo cell, a couple of Ducks mugs (using the one not pictured now), and a custom Ducks Lego dude with my name on the back.  It's so sweet you guys.  Yes, the Ducks's winning streak ended tonight, but they're still the #1 team in the league.

I'm glad I'm not a Rangers fan.  That would be embarrassing.

Ahoy!  Managed to snag some pretty nifty items on the last trip around town with Nick in search of gaming loot.

Picked up cart only Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie, Mega Man 7, and Little Nemo: The Dream Master.  Picked up a CiB copy of Donkey Kong Country as well.  Followed by a cart of Mendel Palace to fill out a box with manual I got from Nick.  Finally got around to snagging a copy of Kingdom Hearts  Re:Chain of Memories, and picked up a copy of Aedis Eclipse: Generation of Chaos as well because it was cheap.

Last stop of the day, at Game Vault.  Noticed a NES Challenge Set up on the wall behind the counter, Nick tells me it's been there a while.  I can't pass up looking at boxed NES systems.  Gave it a once over and the damned thing is nearly new.  The Mario 3 inside is 100% complete, warranty cards, poster and all.  Only strike it had against it was the power brick was an after market job.  Easy enough to replace with an official Nintendo one.   So I splurged and snagged it up.  Lawdy help me.

Very nice! Am I the only one that thinks Nintendo could sell more consoles if it abandoned the Wii U and started selling the NES again?

I've bought a lot of games recently, thanks mostly to Gamestop clearancing out all of their PS2 stuff.  Not even 3 weeks into the year and I'm almost at my goal of 400 PS2 games.

I got these from a few local thrifts.  The Gamecube games were $3 a piece and the PC games were $1 a piece.  Mass Effect 2 was $5 from Gamestop.

I got all of the NES games from a thrift for $3 a piece.  I also got Turbo, the Gamecube games and Medal of Honor from the same thrift for $1-3 a piece.  All of the PS2 games were from Gamestop for a grand total right around $12.  I got Castelvania online for $9.

This is the main haul I got from Gamestop.  There's 40 something games there, almost all of them "Gamestop new".  averaged out, I spent about $1.70 per game.

Finally, these are the last games I've picked up recently.  I got them all from Disc Trader/Disc Replay/Disc Whatever they're calling themselves these days.  After everything I've got recently, I went from needing 68 PS2 games to reach my goal of 400 for the year, to 9.  I also had another goal of buying 365 games this year, one for everyday of the year.  I could not buy anything until we're well into March and I would still be on track to hit that.  Like I said, a lot of games.
