If I ever get back to Europe I am going to spend way too much time chasing PAL NES items. 5 euro seems like a steal.

Went to my favorite thrift store I like to throw money at (admittedly I only go there on 50% off days, but still) Found various media, on various kinds of circles:

As this is a special pre-cleaned-pre-sticker-removal edition of a small scores post, you can ignore the prices. Everything came out to be less than $8 in total.
Everyone was talking about the Medieval Total War series in the "gaming diary" a while back. It looks like my kinda thing, so thats a great find. Gran Turismo 4 is totally my kind of thing, how many hours did I put into that series already? And why didn't I have #4 already?
Bioforge and Trackmania looked like games.....uh.....so......I had to buy them?
Two laser discs and two records. I know, old media, who cares, no one here, right?

This bad boy took me a little under 2 hours to finish. I rushed it a little because I'm taking it to a halloween party in a few minutes, but I'm satisfied.

The Total War games are for the most part pretty awesome. People talk about a decline, but they were (more or less) the same game in different places to me. Good stuff. Never played Bioforge or Trackmania, though I certainly heard the Giant Bomb guys crowing about it for years. That Night Ranger album cover... never really got into that side of hair metal (I was always more into Helloween, Gamma Ray, and Blind Guardian side of hair metal), but any album cover featuring a bunch of 80's rockers flying around in a B-25 is all right with me. Any laser disc is freaking awesome, and any laser disc with a picture of Sean Connery glaring back at you is double-awesome (and needs to be put up on the wall next to Terminator 2 and Cobra).

Oooh, Medieval Total War and the Viking Invasion. That's way back when the TW games were like board games, your armies and agents were just pieces that you move from province from province each turn, but you still had to take care of your settlements.
I always liked Viking Invasion as an expansion more so than Medieval II's Brittania campaign given that I like the political history at the time, Kingdoms just has the map dominated by the Norman English from the start with options to play as the Welsh, Scots, few remaining independent Irish, or the Norse in control of various Islands from Orkney through the Hebrides to Man. This is probably why I like the Last Kingdom mod so much, its basically The Viking Invasion remade in Medieval II, but the map also has Norway, parts of Sweden, Denmark, and some of mainland Europe in the theater. You can play as some of the English Petty Kingdoms like Mercia, Northumbria, and Wessex, you could play as the merged Welsh Kingdoms of Gwenedd and Powys under Rhodri the Great with the super pimp Welsh archers, or the early Kingdom of Scotland, a fractured Ireland, or be the Vikings!
But, Medieval II's expansion Kingdoms also has 3 other little mini campaigns. The Americas, where you can play as Spain conquering Central America, the Maya, the Aztec Empire, the Apache tribes, and a couple of other unlockable factions. Crusades, where you can play as either of the Crusader Kingdoms, Jerusalem or Antioch, Egypt, the Turks, or the fractured Byzantine Empire. Teutonic, which exists around the time of the much ignored but equally awesome Northern Crusades against the last pagan kingdom in Europe, Lithuania. You can play as Lithuania, or the Teutonic Knights, the Danes, the Russians, and a couple other unlockables.

Oooh, Medieval Total War and the Viking Invasion.....
I just tried to install it. I got an error. The disc looks good enough, hopefully a quick buffing will work
It was one lousy .wav file that didn't want to copy. What? I can't play the game because I wouldn't be able to hear one sound?
I'll try again later.

Make sure to run the installer as an administrator, even if you think it is supposed to automatically do it.

Laser Invasion showed up today

Which completes my US Konami Silver Box CIB set.

TMNT 3 has a silver spine but the front art doesn't follow the classic silver box art so I'm not counting it as a silver box. There are a handful of PAL silver box titles that I may go after...

Still thy tongue worm! You shall not impugn the glory of big box PC games!
Anyways, fake outrage aside, here's what I picked up the past week:

I got all of the PS2 games from Gamestop for a little under $10 total. Jet X2O was 2 cents. Can't beat that price. I also got the Assassin's Creed games and the Walking Dead game from Gamestop as well. The Assassain's Creed games we're Buy one, get one free, so 10 buksa for both. The Walking Dead was $10 and it was "Gamestop New". The NES and PS1 games were thrift/game store finds.
