Pretty sweet little score today. The game store I frequent took this little ditty in this weekend and decided to hold it for me until I could come by. The employees are awesome and always looking out for me. Anyway, seems to be complete, including FOAM! Love the matching woodgrain finish. Now I can be lazy and swap out my 2600 games with the touch of a button. Mwah-ha-ha!!  BRAINS! Just in time for Halloween.

That thing is awesome. I still have mine from when I was a kid. Unfortunately mine doesn't work anymore Sad I like that any compatible "tape" will work.

Well, I was a little jealous of Bil, so I had to pre-order one of my own...

Duke, it's a good thing we're all retro gamers and can look beyond "bad graphics." The screenshot from your pre-order is so blurry.

Seriously, congratulations! Must be exciting times.

And so the Collectorcast rebranded themselves as the DadCast. Wink

Congrats Duke!

I stopped by the local thrift store yesterday. With the exception of the Plug N Plays ($1.25) everything here was $2.00 each. It's time to dig out those plastic instruments...

HEY NOW!

FAIR WARNING: This post might be too TL;DR for you ADHDers out there. So if you're looking for brevity and conciseness, please scroll down to the next post. Thank you for your limited span of attention.

Does the hat fit?

Like a 5-time Super Bowl champ! Here, see for yourself:

Picked up a new Skylander today - the Halloween 2013 Eye-Brawl. Still working on our set here slowly, but we're getting closer:

Unfortunately, it appears my Swarm is defective - it's not detected/lighting up on the portal. Every other one works. Also, my Snowshoe Hemingway decided he HAD to play with the toys, so I made sure to snap a picture of him while he was there.

Damn, you had to remind me that I've been off my Skylanders game lately. Still trying to track down three of  the lightcore figures, myself. Fortunately, with some funds I fleeced from a couple hayseeds in some midwest backwater  Grin, I was able to pick up a few new figures, as well as some other stuff:

- Halloween '13 Eye-Brawl
- Like, totally gnarly Tree Rex, dewd
- Super-freakin'-badass series 2 Drobot
- tin of Skylanders Giants Trigger happy Power Sours candies

Oh yeah, I also got a few other things:

- Prima Final Fantasy Tactics and Okami strats
- K'Nex Wario mini-figure

Well, I was a little jealous of Bil, so I had to pre-order one of my own...

I'd get a refund on that pre-order ASAP if I were you. Those things are way overpriced, both monetarily and emotionally.

All right, time to show off a few notable non-gaming small scores I've uncovered:

- Three Polish-language My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic magazine thingies. I dunno why I picked these up. I guess I just found the idea of Polish MLP reading material funny. BTW if there's anybody out there who's interested in these, why not drop me a PM, m'kay?

Speaking of which, this was in my workplace's lost-and-found box the other day:

I wonder if Shoboni wants this back? I mean, that's his life savings right there...

ANYway: thanks to my obsession with airliner disaster shows, I picked up a Who Are Air Traffic Controllers? coloring and activity book so I can be more in-the-know on these wonderful human beings. Fortunately, it's written at just the right grade level for me.

I also found a sealed Micro Machines Titanium die-cast Optimus Prime and Bumbelebee set. Sadly, it's the original G1 Bumblebee who always got his fellow Autobots into bad situations, and was basically a little bitch. Say what you will about Michael Bay, at least he made Bumblebee kinda not suck...

I also decided to go back to basics with my calculator collecting, and picked up a TI-108. After seeing this pickup, I'm sure Nupoile will be all like

That's just about it I guess--  hey, wait, what's this? Oh man, wait'll you see it (now with patented Bil-o-meter technology):

That's right... I got the BOX!

And I got... the MANUAL!

Aaaand finally: the GAME that came with the BOX and the MANUAL:

Eh, two outta three ain't bad, right?

Actually, there's a bit of a story behind this pickup. I entered a local Goodwill on Sunday and found this put aside on the checkout counter. I was allowed to give it a look, which is when I discovered it didn't have the right game in it. I was willing to buy it anyway, but the cashier told me it couldn't be sold until they did a full check to make sure the game it goes with wasn't still in the stockroom somewhere. I left the store a bit bummed  Sad, and figured I'd never get a chance to add it to my collection... and finally be one of the cool kids on RF Generation, sorta.

Fast-forward to this morning as I commenced my usual Tuesday thrift crawl routine. I returned to that Goodwill, and saw that precious bit of cardboard still there at the checkout counter. The store manager was there at the time, sorting out a few things. I pointed to the box, and asked him if he'd be willing to sell it to me, even though it didn't have the correct game in it. He thought it over for a second, and said, "Sure, why not."  Cheesy

So ummmm... does anyone out there have a copy of that submarine game they'd like to trade for a copy of RampageGrin

All right, that's enough silliness for now. But before I go, I'd like to give WildBil52 a big thank-you for being the primary inspiration for my silly bug-eyed avatar "upgrades." You, sir, are my muse...

Man, I don't know if I should let one of my extra Silent Service carts go.  He would become one of the cool kids, and I'd hate to wipe the smile off the little booger-picker's face.  Alright I'll send it.

I'm a big fan of the Bil-o-meter, reminds me of the old GamePro rating system:

First of all, congrats, Duke.  Remind me to never get on the podcast, either. Tongue  Hell, I'm kinda afraid to keep getting mentions in the Small Scores...

Anyway, here's what I picked up hitting yard sales on Saturday:

The LEGO Star Wars games are CIB and in great shape.  They just had a bit of fingerprinting on both discs.  The Game Boy Cleaning Kit is missing the wand for the cartridge cleaners, but otherwise looks to be practically new.  It was stuck in the Pikachu Game Boy case, which I picked up for my niece for part of what I'm getting her for her birthday coming up the 15th of this month.  The Pokemon Trainer's Guide Special Edition has a slightly bent front cover, but otherwise is in good shape.  It still has all 151 of the Pokemon stickers that were included:

Finally, the GBA game is Super Monkey Ball Jr., and works just fine.  Haven't played it for more than a couple of minutes thus far, but it looks to be about as fun as the other Monkey Ball games I've played.    LEGO Star Wars III and LEGO Star Wars Complete Saga  $5.00 each    Pokemon Game Boy Case with Official Nintendo Game Boy Cleaning Kit  $.50    Pokemon Trainer's Guide Special Edition for Yellow, Red & Blue  $.25    Super Monkey Ball Jr.  $2.00

These came from the Salvation Army after the yard sales were basically done for the day.  They're all in decent shape, and played just fine.  Just like with the aforementioned Game Boy Cleaning Kit, the Spiderman and High Heat Baseball 2004 discs were "hidden" in the CD case, and the Need For Speed Carbon is in an old rental case from a local grocery store, called Country Mart, that rented out movies and games from the NES era (starting around 1987, I believe) to about 2003.    NCAA GameBreaker Football, NFL Gameday 2000, and Need For Speed Carbon  $1.00 each    Case Logic CD Case with High Heat Major League Baseball 2004 and Spider-Man  $.50

Finally, stopped at the local retro game store and picked up these three NES titles.  When After Burner comes in the mail from Amazon soon, I will have the Tengen subset finally completed.  Castlequest was just simply one I didn't have in my collection.  All work just fine, but Castlequest definitely was one of those games that had terrific cover art, but terrible gameplay.  Undecided    Castlequest  $3.99    Fantasy Zone and Toobin'  $4.99 each
