Picked up a small Playstation lot on CL today.  I can't pass up a longbox

Scored this beauty "used" from Amazon Warehouse Deals for $277 + tax (just under $300 total).  As far as I can tell, this is a brand new console, with maybe a minor amount of damage to the box, if any at all.  I was just gonna wait a year or two to get a next gen system, but I couldn't resist at this price  Smiley

Ooooooh Disposed Hero got the fanciest!

All I got today was this Master System stuff.  That brings my entire Master System collection to....these four games.

Not sure if I'm more impressed by the Wico or, as GrayGhost put it, the real Prime Trilogy.

I made this rack for my GB/GBA games.  I searched online and couldn't find a ready-made solution that was simple, cheap, displayed well and was easily sortable.  Total cost was around $3.50.  If I go buy another 60 cent dowel rod then I can make another because I still have 2 end pieces left over.  Small score?  Sorta.  Score in the sense that my GB/GBA games aren't out of control anymore.

Have the dimensions you used for it? Seems like a simple solution that's displayed well.

Thanks guys, yeah, I'm going to make another later today and I'll note all the dimensions.

-A Game Boy cartridge is 56.8mm wide

-The upper rods are ~58mm apart, measured center to center.

-The lower rods are 30mm apart, center to center.  (Edit: 35mm would better support the games on the bottom)

-The end pieces don't matter so much and can really be anything that you want as long as the dowel rods are in the right place, I will make them a bit smaller for the next one.

Edit: This is a pretty simple project but here is probably the most helpful bit.  The length of the dowel rods don't so much matter, they can scale to any size you need.  When done drilling, there should be NO material removed from the inside of the vertical lines.  55mm is the most important.  The actual distance in between the inside edge of each dowel rod is 57.5mm which fits *perfectly*.  I'd shoot for 58mm or you may have to sand/whittle some material away down the whole length of the dowel rod, a mistake I made on the second one I made today.  55mm is too tight.

46 mm isn't really important, it's just what it turned out to be after I eyeballed it.  I didn't drill through the endpieces for the dowel rods either, I just started a hole and then press fit the dowel rods in along with a bit of wood glue.

Where'd you pick up the parts? I'd gladly make one of these this weekend. I miss making my own shelving. Plus, it'd be perfect should I decide to open up the flea market booth.

Yeah, that's was the other reason I did this.  I just like making things myself.  I could've bought a pencil tray or used Ferrero Rocher chocolates boxes but where's the fun in that?

I bought all this stuff at Wisconsin Craft Market although I'm sure a Michael's or Hobby Lobby would have the same stuff.  Dowel rods are cheap (the one I bought was 1/4" x 36" for 59 cents) and the endpieces could be made/gotten even cheaper if you search the discount/clearance lumber at a Home Depot or something.
