Went to our favorite thrift store today while running some errands. The first errand was at Staples where I found, amongst the 50,000 Games! and solitaire compilations, two Star Wars games. Every other game was $9.99 but the Star Wars games were marked at $2.10, and it was buy one get one free. So, total cost for two brand new games $2.10  Smiley  The guy who rung us up was a little disappointed because he had been planning on buying them and I was getting the last two.

The rest of this is from the thrift store. I don't know for sure what it cost because we also got a few books and a board game. Total price was less than $6. Sometimes I wonder if they ring stuff up accurately there...it was half off everything, but the xbox controller alone should have been $2.50. Oh well, I donated a $1 too so I guess it works out.

Was that controller only released with the Halo Edition xbox? Or could you buy it separately?

I think we've bought 4 vinyl records in the last 10 years, two of them have been Jackson Browne. What does that say? The guy at the counter thought it was a pretty cool find anyways....

I got to go down to Tampa Bay again over the weekend and picked up a few things at the Oldsmar Flea Market and a pawn shop over in Dunedin.  The Super Mario 2 cards were from the flea market and has all 33 tip cards and a bunch of doubles.  50 cards in all for $8.  The rest of the stuff came from the pawn shop.  I saw the Genesis games hiding in the back under a counter and asked to see them.  I was excited to see a Shinobi, but unfortunately the Spider man: Separation Anxiety was inside the case.  That's a Spiderman game I haven't seen so I hope it's fun.  I asked to see the pokemon white game and it was labeled $20 so I told the guy I didn't have that much.  He asked how much I had in my pocket and I told him $16.  So he sold me everything there for $16.  Real nice guy, definitely willing to make deals.  I will be stopping by again next time I am in the area.

Forgot to post my Sunday flea market finds!

GB Player Startup Disc: $10
Gotcha Force, Extreme-G 3, Boomer's Adventure in Asmik World, Yoshi's Cookie, Mario Tennis: $10
Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Mega Man & Bass: $22

Gotcha Force and Fire Emblem in one weekend, my GameCube collection just went up in value a good bit! Turned out I already had Kirby, somehow missed listing it in my collection... and in my massive spreadsheet of yard sale finds. I have no idea where my copy came from I guess!

Nice Pick Ups everyone, I am feeling so dry, Haven't got pickups In about month except for some ebay stuff. Getting married is awesome fun, but not to my time and wallet.

Hopefully I can get back on the wagon when everything slows down after my wedding.

Although I guess I will have a pretty sweet score in about a week  Wink

Hey now,

So this afternoon i was minding my own business sittin on the computer in my underwear, when i hear a knock on the door.  I say "who could that be?"  I open the door, look down and see a nice package from the lovable Zagnorch.  Included in the package was a letter of his wellwishes on my upcoming nuptials, and this t-shirt.  Thanks buddy.

Cool, it got to you. I hope the perlers I threw in also survived the journey...

Anyway, I guess it's time for me to reveal my Saturday garage sale & thrift finds:

- Black slim PS2 with two 8 MB memory cards, two controllers, manual, AV hookup, and CIB Peter Jackson's King Kong and Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal (Player's Choice) games, $5.00: still haven't checked to see if it works or not. But even if it doesn't, the other stuff makes it totally worth it.

- Indigo GameCube with hookups, $4.00: The release button needs a little work.

- PlayStation Move Sharpshooter rifle accessory, $4.00

- Assortment of 20 McDonald's LCD handheld games, $7.50: includes Shadow the Hedgehog making goals in hockey, Knuckles acting as a soccer goalie, and Michael Vick throwing passes for you to catch downfield, among other shenanigans. Most of these actually present very little challenge, except to aim for a perfect score.

Then there was my big non-gaming haul:

Two filing boxes of Legos for $10.00. I bought this from the same place I got the PS2 slim. I paid for just one box, and was about to leave when the yard sale hostess said, "Hey wait, I think I have another box of those-- oh, here they are! Here you go, no extra charge."

I responded with, "Ummm... are you sure?"

Anyhoo: these two boxes have parts from just about every kind of lego set you can think of. There's lots of Star Wars ones, some from Batman, a few from Bionicle, and several from Lego City. Heck, it even had some airplane-looking components I can use to reenact the crash sites on those Air Crash Investigation shows I'm addicted to.

Oh yeah, then there's the usual:

- TI-82 calculator: I'm in the process of giving this a good home.

And not a moment too soon, 'cuz it's already filed a restraining order against me.

- Nerf Maverick dart blaster, $0.79

- Assorted loose G.I. Joes and carded BattleCorps Mutt/Junkyard & Outback action figures, $10

- $20 bill I found on the sidewalk

I'll have a few scores to show off tomorrow following my thrift run.

Aw goddammit, not another one.

What is it with you guys, anyway? You have some sort of lifetime-of-misery fetish?
