Package in the mail from wildbil52, and went out and snagged a new phone to replace my old Droid X2 that had become possessed by some sort of touchscreen demons.

I haven't posted anything lately, so here we go:

First off, a little back story.  The surrounding counties in my area have a Facebook group that is like an online yard sale store.  People can post pics of what they have for sale and what they are looking to buy.  I posted that I was looking for older games and game systems.  Anyways, I was contacted by a girl that said she had two PS2s and a few games for free.  I set up a time to meet her and picked them up, so when I get there, she says "Oh yeah, I have this XBOX thing if you want it too, but I don't know if it works".  So I picked up:

2 PS2's (Fat models) ---That's funny
2 PS2 controllers, av cables, and power supplys
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Finding Nemo
Xbox 360

All for free!

Savers?

Zag... Russ... where are you guys from?

I reside in San Jose, near all the wicked-awesome geeky tech stuff. I'm within five miles of two Savers thrifts, and both of 'em are in the habit of selling components separately.

Still, they have some redeeming features. For example, I hit one of 'em on the way home from work today, and grabbed the following:

Loose SNES carts, $1.99 $1.39 each with stamp pass:

  - Mario is Missing!

  - StarFox

  - Battletoads in Battlemaniacs

  - Super Mario World

  - StarFox

  - Super Mario Kart

  - Super Battletank: War in the Gulf

  - The Lion King

Sega Genesis carts, $1.99 $1.39 each:

  - X-Men 2: Clone Wars (loose)

  - Last Battle (boxed, no manual)

  - XGranadaX (boxed, no manual)

  - Zero Tolerance (boxed, no manual)

  - Toxic Crusaders (CIB)

I also grabbed:

   - Bomberman 64 cart, $1.99 $1.39

  - Bakugan Battle Brawlers (Wii, sealed), $2.99 $2.09

  - Nerf N-Strike maverick dart blaster, $0.99 $0.69

Holy cow what great deals. My savers always chargers like $3.99 for nes games and 5 or 6 for N64. Real lame. And I don't think outs do any discounts.

This particular Savers is schizo when it comes to prices. Earlier this month they got in a bunch of Atari 2600 carts that they priced at $4.99 each. Some time back, they got in some NES "tapes" they were asking $2.99 for. Meanwhile, the other one near me never sells its NES, SNES, Genesis, or N64 carts for less than $3.99 each. And if you want a real laugh, they have a SMB/Duck Hunt cart (with sleeve, no manual) in their collectibles showcase for just $19.99. And it doesn't help that all games are marked "no exchange," which means I can't return them for trade if they don't work. So I gotta be real careful about what I get over there...

As for the discount: Savers has a savings-pass promo about four times a year where you get a stamp for every $5.00 you spend. Though usually the clerk will throw me an extra stamp or two at checkout.  Cheesy When I have a completed pass, I'll sit on it until I encounter a good sized haul to use it on... granted I find that haul before the pass expires.

I'm already working on a second one:

I'll also donate to Savers a few times a year, and they'll throw me a 20% off coupon in exchange along with a tax receipt.

If nothing else, they're good for reading material. Almost all of the vidya strats and magazine back issues I've grabbed lately have been from there.

All right, enough of this boring nonsense; let's get back to the small scores.

@Zagnorch - Man I really need to start one of those Savers stamp cards but I don't find anything at my only local Savers often enough to justify it. Sad

Not really a small score in the spirit of the thread, but I ordered this from Amazon.co.uk recently.  The "Street" or E1000 is a Euro-only model for those unaware.

Stopped in a new thrift store today and found a half dozen N64 games.  Most were in poor shape sports titles and one had the label completely removed so who knows what game it was.  I did find one that I didn't have yet.  $2 wasn't a bad price either.  This is the kind of store where stuff is everywhere and it seems like an old console would be found buried under other stuff.  I will have to keep an eye out when I go back.

Yep, it is without WiFi and has a mono speaker.  It's the "budget" model.  I'm not sure why it never came to the US though, seems like it would've been perfect for a $99 or even a $79 price point considering that the last 3000's are just rotting on shelves at $129.99.
