First off, there are two Silent Service carts in the mail to two guys that should remember me when they win the lottery, for hooking them up with such collector gold.

So the Play n Trade's final day is next Wednesday, and EVERYTHING must go.  I stopped by earlier this week, before they turned the store into what looked like a yard sale.

More manuals for $1 each.

40% off all of these.  The Jaws and FF VIII are FS/FT.  The cases were $1.

And then I made my last weekly Friday night stop.  The store had shit scattered all over the place.  Even the toilet seat covers were for sale.

While crossing the parking lot, I could here the guys gearing up for me to walk in.

They game me the Retro section sign.

Damn, I'm going to miss that store.  But I have my momento.

And they dumped the entire wall of retro stuff (Atari to Saturn/PS1) left over into a tub and offered everything for $3.

And this is what was inside...for $3.

Quite a few sports carts, for sure.  But there are so great titles.  Didn't have the Hydro Thunder, Vandal Hearts, Point Blank 3, Dune 2000, Railroad Tycoon Gold.

IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN FILLERS, LET ME KNOW.  I'LL COMPARE WHAT I DON'T KEEP WITH YOUR COLLECTION LIST AND SEND WHAT YOU NEED FROM THE STACK FOR JUST THE PRICE OF SHIPPING, AND I'LL PROBABLY NEED TO GO FLAT RATE TO SAVE YOU SOME SHIPPING COST.  THE FIRST FEW THAT CONTACT ME WILL PROBABLY GET 30 OR SO CARTS/DISCS.  I'LL ALSO ATTACK MY CURRENT TUB OF FS/FT COMMONS.  KEEP IN MIND THAT I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THE TIME TO CLEAN OR TEST THEM FIRST, WHICH IS RARE FOR ME, BUT TOO TIME CONSUMING FOR THIS LOT.

And this is what else I bought.

Nintendo sign - $15
The small boxes are replacement lasers for XBox, PS2, Wii and screens for GBA and GBA SP - $1 ea.  Everything else is now 60% off, but they threw me another great deal.  DefJam Rapstar is just the box and sealed mic, for use with Rocksmith.

And I haven't gotten it out of the truck yet since I'm reorganizing for it's place, but I also got the leather sofa from their play...um...station.  Tagged $70, For me $30.

I grabbed one of the wall mount Vizio's for Mom. $N/A meaning Not/Allowed to say how much till the owner closes up.

I'll visit the store at least one more time by the closing, and that will be to take the guys some donuts or pizza.  The good news is that two of the employees are planning to open their own store up the highway.  They have my support.

It's sad that your local shop had to shut down Techie, but it looks like you really cleaned up.

Well, if those guys were good enough to get your support, then I wish them the best on keeping the dream alive.

What a great example of cultivating and maintaining a superlative retailer-customer relationship, on both sides of the counter. And, as you can see, it has its rewards. Let that be a lesson, kids! A real shame they had to shut it down, though.

On another note: why aren't there any Play-N-Trades in the SanFran Bay area? Oh, they have 'em all over SoCal, but none where the U.S. video game industry is concentrated? That's just not right.  Angry

@silver80 nice long box of Gex and what is that gold cartridge?

@techie, sorry your shop closed down, I remember having an awesome play n trade when I lived in MS, a couple of my friends worked there and it was awesome, but alas they eventually shut down as well  Sad .  So glad you got to have some last hurrahs while they close for good.  but if you are up selling some of the Genesis & Dreamcast Sports titles for cheap, I will buy them, you have some I don't have yet.   Smiley

Damn Techie, all that loot for $3.  I don't care if they're sports games, that's a great clean out.  You can always do something with them...build a coffee table!

Looks like, with 4 collectors asking for the extra Genesis carts, that'll do it for the giveaway.  I'm going to even the lots out so everyone gets about the same number, and let you know when they're ready to ship.
