So finally, after nearly a year got an excuse to hit the thrift store (under the pretense of getting a white elephant gift).  I went on my lunch hour and scoured the store, digging through mounds of crap.  I passed on a single loose Genesis (original model) that Razor probably didn't want, but I did pick one thing up:

Oh well.  Can't expect much from one measly stop at one thrift store.  One the other hand I did get a white elephant gift - a Cabernet Sauvignon bottle with a hole drilled in the back filled with Christmas lights.  I went back to work, dejected, and finished my lunch hour digging through the electronic waste bin before it went to recycling.  I found:

...  wait for it

Yep.  Apparently a non-functional 20" iMac (early 2008).  I took it home, reseated the logic board and the power supply, and replaced the RAM.  The results?  A completely functional iMac with a single flaw (small crack in the glass panel: about a $60-$90 replacement).  I guess I can't complain.  All in all, it's good to be back.

I've already got Genesis systems up the wazoo, I'm starting to leave them for other people instead of hording them out like I used to. But that is a nice iMac find you got their. Good to have some computer knowledge.

Your lucky, my Goodwill sends all computer stuff in for refurb, and sells the towers for $139.95, the monitors for $39.95, the keyboards for, I think $7.99, and the mice for $4.95.

A bit late on posting this, but illness and laziness took all motivation out of me in the last couple weeks.  Got a package of some loose carts I purchased from Duke earlier in the month... Metroid yellow label, Double Dragon II, Mario Kart 64, Sonic & Knuckles, and Tetris & Dr. Mario.

and in other news, I took a trip to Saturn and found some cool stuff, see blog for details!

It's been a while since I have had a good 2600 score so I was happy to see this at Salvation Army yesterday.  I was even happier to see the 19.99 price tag!!  The lot had a few titles I needed including Track & Field (no controller or manual), Skate Boardn', Kung Fu Master, & Title Match Pro Wrestling.  Not to mention a couple of manuals I needed and a nice set of wireless controllers.

Loving the manuals and the boxed controller. What is that in the top-left? A receiver of some sort?
A few titles in there I don't normally see either. Nice haul.

@Zag,
What's the matter? Run out of Gen1 Pokemon games, so you're reduced to picking up cruddy DS titles?

I believe the box is the receiver to the wireless controllers.

Correct.  It's the wireless receiver.  Though rather bulky, the wireless Atari joysticks are great.

Good to know, I have a boxed set of them but never bothered to try them out.  I may throw some batteries in these and give them a go.  You gotta love the huge antenna on them, it just screams 80s!!

I've used those wireless atari joysticks before and they are great.  And they don't use IR for a signal so there is no line of sight issues.
