Please add Origin as a console platform similar to what was done with Steam. I'm certain I'm not the only one who took advantage of the latest Humble Bundle.

It kind of sucks that other publishers such as EA and Ubisoft want their own Steam-clones. I guess you can't blame them, but it certainly isn't as convenient as having just one DRM login platform.

I have uPlay (Ubisoft's Steam) for a free Splinter Cell game and it's so laughably worse than Steam. All it is is a barebones Steam clone, without many of the nice features that make Steam bearable.

I have games on Steam, Origin, GFWL (no longer supported shortly... FINALLY) and Impulse.
(And Windows 8 Marketplace and of course both WP and WP8 "markets".)

There are way more of these digital distribution platforms than i think most people realize.

EDIT
I have a uPlay account but i don't think i have downloaded any PC games from it. As far as i can remember it has just been their tie in to the 360 retail releases.

FWIW, I don't mind adding in these systems. However, we need to be diligent about how we want to track collections for these systems. For instance, Origin doesn't have a Part # that I'm familiar with, unlike Steam's system. If we can accurately document whether or not they're regionwide/regionfree releases, it's not a problem.

Huzzah it still makes sense when sober!

I hate having to scroll through the ever growing list of "systems" in the list of real systems.
Steam is not a system. None of them are systems. They all require a system to play them on.

But the certainly should not be included in standard retail releases as that is outside the original scope of our trackable (physical) collection database. (IMO)

why not just make IBM Digital and have Steam, Uplay, Origins and Good Old Games (GOG games) all in one area.  Ironic I just made a post to split a section.

I agree the list is getting crazy we could combine like the WiiWare, VC to just Wii Digital and same with other consoles so its not so crowded.

I have an idea dont track them at all. They are not collectible in any way and this is a collection tool.

So by that logic we should go ahead and remove the current digital games database like XBLA and so on? We need to track all or none and just track physical games then. This is going to become more of a serious issue as we move forward in the coming years as more and more digital platforms start to appear. I'm not really sure about mobile. But we should at least look into tracking Downloadable PC games like those of Origin/Steam/Windows 8 etc.

Sorry to derail the digital train here, but everything has a collectible component - it's just whether or not we want to support tracking it. We are, by site definition, "The classic and modern video games database." Are they not video games?

The site will need to evolve to properly support digital titles. I'm welcome to suggestions, such as splitting them off into their own DB (which I support) which will allow them to have their own details pages to give them proper support. Arranging them in the database is another separate matter.
