Some people love pre-order bonuses, limited editions, action figured/statues with their games.  I am not one of those people, especially when the special edition costs a lot more.

However...

Final Fantasy X is my favorite FF so when I saw that the pre-order bonus is special packaging with an art book for the same price, I pre-ordered it instead of waiting picking it up later like I had planned.  Even though there is a good chance that this edition will be available for months after launch like most special editions.  You just never know, so I went for it.

How do people feel about pre-order bonuses?

depends on the game, and the bonus.

I am a sucker for soundtracks though.

I have a weird attitude toward pre-order bonuses. If the bonus is a book or CD I'll go for it if it's for no extra charge. That's why I pre-ordered FF X HD.

I really dislike statuettes though because they just end up unloved and cluttering my room.

There's an article on this very topic on Game Informer if anyone is interested.

I'm a sucker for it. I pre-order mostly Japanese games like RPGs. Even more non traditional games like Dragons Crown or PXZ. Yes I even go after the 100$ CE's as well like Ni no Kuni and Darksiders II. I'm just a sucker for pre order bonuses and CE's

My biggest weakness is artbooks and OST's. Not into statues so much with the exception of Darksiders II where it was Deaths mask but display only.

Similar to a few others here:

Yes: Books, soundtracks, steelbook cases

No: Statues, trinkets, crappy dlc

I have to fight an urge to collect any LE or CE that contains physical items, and I echo the desire for OSTs or Artbooks.  I also like some figures/statues, though they tend to be outrageously overpriced.  Among my favorites are the Gears 3, Skyrim, Bioshock, and Bioshock Infinite figures.

I've had to actually reign in my odd desire for CEs; I started ordering them for games I had no real desire to play! Tongue  I recently cancelled the Splinter Cell: Blacklist one with the RC plane, because as much as I wanted to play with the RC, Blacklist is not something on my day one list.

i love CE's but like slackur i've started to control myself a bit, i have a lot of them and some are games that i haven't even touched yet. though a lot of them i don't buy day 1. pre-order bonuses never convince me one way or another to pre-order, but when i do pre-order a game i always love to get them because it's free and something i wouldn't be able to get later, unless i paid money for it on ebay which i wouldn't care to do. so if i plan on getting a game close to launch, i say why not pre-order?

I like them a lot even though I don't often splurge for them. I was VERY tempted to grab Injustice for the awesome statue that came with it.

I echo most other folks in that I like art books and soundtracks, but I don't often pre-order to get them. I have a very hard time paying full price for modern games since they drop in price so quickly.

I also meant to mention that DLC pre-order insentives have never once influenced me to purchase a game. The opposite in at least one case.

What do you guys think of steel cases? I don't like them since they stick out among the other cases on the shelf.

If you have a few of them together they look pretty badass though. I really liked the Mortal Kombat one I got for Izret. It was purdy.

No influence on me one way or another. I certainly wouldn't pay more for one.
