If she is at the AZ campus that is about a mile from my house I think. I have a 2 story house and my electric bill can me 400 in the summer. But my AC units are 25 years old. I am actually starting to call around to get some people to come out and give me quotes for new ones.

$375/mo with new AC units, 2 fridges, and running the house at ~75F for both up and downstairs. We could reduce that some more, but that's what I've been averaging lately.

Wow, that's some big money spent running the AC. I guess though that's not much different than our winter costs running the furnace and then we still have to run the AC all summer here as well. When its all said and done I guess I'm not to worried about cost. We are doing this for a life change. We only live once and spending our lives in the same town or area is mind numbing to us.

Electricity costs tend to top out around $500 here in Florida during the summer if you want to be fairly comfortable, but Arizona's not as bad - the humidity doesn't kill you there.

We keep are house around 80 during the summer. That sounds terrible but when it is 110 outside 80 isn't that bad.

Sweet heavens to Betsy. My apt stays at 68 in the summer. I'd die.

When you're used to 90+ degree heat, 80 is a godsend.

If I had an apartment it would be a lot cooler. But I have a two story house with vaulted ceilings in part of the house. I dont think my AC could get my house to 68. If I did my electric bill would be 700-1000 dollars is my guess. Another good thing is there is no humidity.

Running the house at 72 degrees for me costs ~$600 in the summer - no vaulted ceilings though. My roommate had my AC upstairs at 68 at one point, and the AC unit froze over because it was constantly running.

Gotcha. Yeah, here in the southeast, we definitely deal with some pretty intense humidity. That's certainly a factor. We do not, however, face 110 degree temperatures very frequently

Your utility bills are scary! My highest bill last year was $200 and that's for gas and electric in a 2400 sq ft home.

For comparison, 3600 sq. ft. 2-story with a badly calibrated upstairs AC.

My house is about 2700 sq. ft 2 story with vaulted ceilings and a 25 year old AC systems. My cousin has a 1000 sq. ft condo and keeps it at 68 degrees and only pays 100-150. So like I said it really depends on the house.

We keep it at 68 in the summer. Hey Barracuda, you have a fellow RF Genner right down the road! If West Allis counts.
