So this is a new idea I had, being a member of NintendoAge for 3 years I have made quite a few posts there. But they were scattered all over the place in different categories. So I decided to go through all of the ones about getting a new item and combine them all into one mega post. This will somewhat show a large portion of my progression of my collection. Not every single item was documented but there is a lot to share and every post is dated with pics. Hopefully some of you will find this entertaining but for me its absolutely great to look back on all these great collecting memories. It starts with my most recent. By no means are these all glory stories, some great deals and some weak moments on my part but none the less they are all history. Enjoy

Note: I listened to the complete soundtrack of Sega Genesis Golden Axe over and over while editing everything together Smiley Love that games music

Well I haven't posted anything in finders keepers for ages. But I figured I'd post this once since it was an interesting story

So lately I haven't had any time to go hunting for games. I often would go to the flee markets and check kijiji daily but with my work schedule picking up and spending most of my "hobby money" on bigger purchases this left very little room for hunting.

So a few days ago I was sitting at work waiting for my shift to start and I got a text message from a fellow worker. "Hey come get me in the parking lot, I have a Rubbermaid full of video games for you to look at". But just as I received the message he was walking in the door. (very bad cell service in out lunch room)

So a few hours in to shift the suspense of what he had was killing me. He described that he had a bunch of systems and games that his friend wanted sold. He basically brought them in for me to appraise them or give some tips on how to sell. I agreed to do that but really I had full intentions of scooping the loot. Finally the nagging suspense got to me and we hoped in a company truck and headed to the parking lot. As soon as I saw him lug the Rubbermaid out I could tell there was some weight to it.

Within seconds I was ripping through the goods. But as I went my buddy was describing how they basically keep it all in the garage and boy, was it obvious. After a few minutes the dirty film began to build up on my fingertips. I couldn't help but to giggle when I saw the yellowed snes but when I pulled the second even more yellowed snes ( the most yellowed snes I ever saw ever ) I burst out laughing. The games were all solid but common and I had most of them. I only would be able to put 8 games into my collection.

He often said " hey if u want to buy them, make an offer but don't completely low ball her, since I have no idea what this is all worth". I simply told him that I wasn't really interested due to the condition and that I had most of it already. Being generous I offered $80 and said that's only because I don't want it and if she said no I'd set it all up to sell for her ( making little lots for her to put on kijiji )

He called her and told her my offer and she instantly accepted. He said she basically did not want the junk back in her house. So there you have it. I thought it was a pretty solid deal... Now I just have a week of deep cleaning to do.

Hooray for PAC-Attack and DKC 3!!!

Heres what I got !!! pretty sweet haul. Plus Im still waiting for the present my brother got me. Minty CIB Mega Man 4 was a total surprise. The bootleg pink Rockman cart and converter was another "what the...?" from a not collector.

Totally love anything Tolkien so these Hobbit figures will go awesome with my Lotr figure collection,

Have a happy new year everyone!!!

Wednesday, October 24, 2012 - 04:38:18 PM

So 48 hours ago I had no intentions of buying any games at all. Then within the past 24 hrs heres what I ended up with

There was some major money thrown around for some of it but the other half came from a friend who owed me some money ( I guess it pays off having friends that collect stuff, they always seem to run into awesome stuff, like the NES cabinet for example )

Sunday, September 30, 2012 - 01:05:02 PM

So yesterday I finally got all the pieces together and now I have an entirely new experience, The Castlevania experience. Holy crap its a hard game, more hard then the NES version. 4 hits your dead and the time limit is a major pain in the ass lol. I love it!!! This Vs. System is awesome since you can swap the boards with ease. Super Mario Bros is hopefully coming next :0

Original Post.
So it basically took me 20 years to achieve this but I finally got my very own arcade cabinet. I have always wanted a arcade since I was little. I always thought they were awesome. I was a kid in the early 90s so arcades where everywhere back then. Funny how things were, my mom would take me shopping, she would give me a few quarters and leave me at any arcade machine there was, at an actual arcade, the comic shop, the drug store, just set up around the mall… the list goes on, like I said they were everywhere.
The problem for me in getting an arcade was which one to get. I have a long list of favourites like Turtles in Time, The Simpsons, X-men… Beat em ups were the shit back then. My brother and his friends actually beat The Simpsons back in the day at Bullwinkle's ( our local badass arcade, similar to Chuck E Cheese but a million times better and was in the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show theme. I loved it ) Once I saw this cabinet on kijiji I had to have it. I liked the thought of having a game like Dr Mario. Im sure Ill never beat it and Ill get a lot of use out it rather then a game you can beat and thats it.
Dr Mario for Nes was a classic for me in my younger years. My buddy lent it to me back in 1996 and I was addicted hardcore. Not only was this machine Dr Mario but it as far as I could tell was the Nintendo VS UniSystem from the decal on the side. I figure I can change out Dr Mario motherboard for another VS game. The guy I bought the machine from was a totally wicked dude. His entire garage was full of  old arcade and pinball projects, as far as he knew the Dr Mario internals and monitor were all original. I have no clue about arcades so Im taking his word for it. He said he didn't know much about this cab and he didn't do anything to it, he got it in a lot and was just selling to to make some money back).

The controls on this cab are amazing. So tight and responsive

The plastic on this machine is just a Donkey Kong one flipped around. Not sure if thats the original way they were or not

This decal is so 1980s I just love it
After playing this game a bit I realized that its way harder and let forgiving then the NES version. I love it, Im totally interest in finding more Vs games for this machine.

Recently I got this sweet alternate box art Zombies ate my Neighbours in a trade. It was an epic trade in which I traded away a lot of my higher end doubles I had. I was extremely happy with the deal since I think this box is one of the coolest looking ones ever made, thats just my opinion. ! As soon as I saw it I had to have it. I think the artwork is badass

I guess I kinda fluked out getting this one. Just happened to find it buried on some guys kijiji list of N64 games. He had a ton and Sculptures Cut was just thrown into the mix. There was a whopping $50 price tag next to it and I had to drive to the other end of the city ( which actually never took me to long ) I didnt care though, Super happy to have this cart in my collection.

Too bad its in ruff shape, very obvious that it was an ex rental. Are all of them like this? or majority??

Ok so the wedding was a major success and I now know why everyone said enjoy it because it went extremely fast LOL. Heres what I was talking about with the Nintendo themed stuff at my wedding. Like I said it was all my wife's idea. We also walked into the reception hall to Super Mario Bros 1-1 music. That was awesome since we got married at one of the fanciest building in our city. Everyones was looking around and saying " is this Mario music".

AND NO I NEVER CUT THE CAKE lol. Its sitting in my game room right now, i should preserve it somehow

original post

So Its been a year and a half in the making, now its all coming to ahead this Saturday June 30th. Im not really nervous or stressed but it is on my mind big time. I just hope everyone has fun and everything goes as planned. Weather looks to be perfect and there are actually a few Nintendo theme things going down during the reception . Ill be posting pics for sure and possibly link a video. Its actually quite funny that it was all my fiancés idea to add the Nintendo stuff. I guess thats why Im marring her. So wish me luck everyone. Thanks

Day of the wedding

I haven't been posting much in the finders keepers simply because I don't come across anything note worthy lately. This one was a total score. Found it on kijiji for $30. Its like MINT and i could not be more happy I grabbed it. I had to wait a whole day before I could go get it and it was like a 45 min drive across the city to get it. 100% worth it though. Games in this klinda condition are just so rare in the wild.

Well heres an interesting item from my childhood. I just found it at my parents house the other day. I remember getting this beach towel like yesterday even though it was about 22 years ago. The towel is dated Nintendo of America Inc. 1990. Right from they day I got it when I was like 6 years old, it always seamed odd to me that the Mario on the right had his colours reversed and there was a Koopa in the top right corner saying "shhh don't tell anyone". Its like they screwed up and tried to cover it up. Its called Secret Tricks so many that was the whole point, like "try to find the secret screw up"  or something, I dont know.... Also its like SMB 2 and SMB3 are combined with Mario holding a turn up and kicking a turtle shell. Its got some wear to it but thats because I actually used it. My bother had a sweet towel also but I couldn't find it. Ill have to ask him what happened to it.

Got home from work today and found 2 items in my mailbox and 2 I had to go pick up at the post office. WOW all on a lousy Monday! Thanks to the 2 NA members who sent me the games, the other 2 items are my Neo Geo controller extension cables and the other is the Nintendo Fan Club Calendar screw up. One of the best Mondays in recent history

Part 2

Wednesday, February 22, 2012 - 07:40:37 PM

So this was a pretty awesome weekend for me and my video game collection. I managed to score 3 systems that I have been after for many moons. I guess you could classify these 3 as being more of the "hardcore" systems... Kinda... Maybe... I dont  know... I dont wanna get into a debate if they are or not, Im just really glad to finally have them. I had basically had no intentions of getting them until the day before I got them, when they popped up on Kijiji. Im very very new to these systems so any input would be great!!

CIB Sega Saturn being the the first of the lot. Im not the biggest fan of the switch from 2d to 3d graphics and the Saturn was one of them that first started this but I am told that there are some deadly games for this system.

Up next a CIB Neo Geo Cd. WOW what a badass system, the guy I got it off of had the entire game collection burnt for me. Im not the biggest fan of burnt games but when he gave me the whole collection I was totally stoked!!! Load times suck but oh well, Im not in a hurry and these load times are what I can expect from a system this old. Really impressed with these games even though they are mostly in Japanese.

Last but certainly not least the Neo Geo AES. I got this with only 3 games and most likely that is all Ill ever have lol. These games are just to much money for me at this point in my collecting. There are tons of NES and SNES games Id rather have than any Neo Geo game. But what can I say.. The 3 games I have are freaking amazing.

I got the Neo Geo AES for a cash deal on Friday night and Saturday morning at like 7am I got the Neo Geo CD, Sega Saturn and Mint Nintendo bag for my TMNT Raphael statue ( I had posted this statue at every NA garage sale with no interest so I was beyond happy to trade it for this lot!! )

So in getting these 3 systems I basically had to completely revamp my gaming set up because it was already a mess so here is what it looks like now

And heres the last few spots left on my ceiling, only enough room for 2-3 more boxes and then I'll have to start another row elsewhere in the basement

As you can see by this post Im very happy with what I just got. Even rerouting all my systems was a fun task. I know this is mostly not Nintendo related but I just wanted to share it with everyone.

Saturday, February 11, 2012 - 10:03:35 AM

Its funny to think that I have been apart of this kickass forum for awhile now and never once did I think to share this collection. I have no idea why I never posted before..

The backstory ( if you care )

The story behind this collection was a few years back I was collecting action figures. Nothing crazy rare or vintage just current figures that would come out I would buy. I have the odd figure that is rare but other then that I collected because I loved action figures. But it got to the point where there was so many figures for so many genres that I loved, I could not keep up. So I decided to switch to statues. Mostly becuase I was very picky with statues and they were very expensive I felt like it was a collection I could handle because I would be buying 1 every second month or something. Lucky for me at the time this Zelda line just started the preorder stage with Fierce Dienty Link (the first statue in the line). After buying that statue I just continued without thought buying them as they came out.

When I got the first 3, Fierce Dienty Link, Skull Kid and Shiek they were all on display around my house. Until a close call with a drunk relative, where he decided to pick up Shiek for a closer look... the statue fell outta his drunk ass hands headed for the hard wood floor. By the grace of Princess Zelda herself I caught the statue at the last second! To this day I dont know how I did it but I felt the power of the TriForce run though me at that very moment.

So that is why all of them are still in their shipping boxes, waiting for a bullet proof display case that I hope to get one day in the distant future.

The (almost) Complete Zelda statue line ( I say almost because Im missing a few of the regular releases for some statues, my wallet could not afford getting the regular release and the exclusive release, so I decided to just focus on getting the exclusives)

Lets not forget the 2 mortal enemies turned best friends Mario and Sonic !!!

So this is the current collection, I have ordered the next in the line also, Link and Epona. I was actually thinking of quiting this collection... They come out quite often now and they seem to getting more pricey. Its something I have to think about but after setting them all up together, its hard not to want to keep going with it

Hope you all enjoy

EDIT - Heres thier homepage so you can get a better look at all thier statues https://www.first4figures.com/

Saturday, January 28, 2012 - 01:33:56 PM

Got this unexceptionally in a lot yesterday. I was buying kids PS2 games and he brought it along. I have always wanted one of these and especially the Famicom Edition. I tried looking it up but all I found was the Japanese version. This one has English, French and Spanish on it so I was kinda confused about that since Canadian stuff only usually has English and French. Id like to know what its worth and some more info on it. Regardless of what I payed ($90) Im super happy to add it to my collection.

LOL I saw it and had to have it!!! Funny thing was that last night I was watching The AVGN and he has the same doll. I thought it was cool and what do you know..... The first booth I walked into this morning at the flea market and  there he was staring me in the eye!! Had to cough up $20  but oh well, he looks great just hanging out on top of my shelf. I love the vintage 1980's video game merchandise.

EDIT - He never smelt like cigarette smoke or cat piss so that was a major plus!! really great condition

Wednesday, December 28, 2011 - 01:52:38 PM

I was just wondering if I did ok on this one. I wanted a Vic-20 for a long time. This one popped up on Kijiji so I figure Id buy it. All the picture showed was the Vic 20 box... I figured it was just the system and box but was I wrong lol. I payed $100 bucks for it all. The serial numbers match so I know thats a good thing

Wednesday, December 28, 2011 - 01:40:40 PM

Couldn't be more happy, it was great that a lot of people had opinions on what to buy me lol

My girlfriend said I don't have enough Sonic stuff so she got me all the Sonic stuff, and the brother in law got me the Batman 360 games cause I need to play them apparently lol. I was really happy about the TG-16 Splatterhouse, I wanted that game for like 10 years!!!

Sunday, November 20, 2011 - 11:38:47 AM

So I went to Best Buy this morning to get my limited edition Zelda Skyward Sword. I got there about 20 min early cause I didnt know how bad the roads would be. To my surprise there was like a ton of people hovering around the front of the store. they would walk to the door realize it was closed and then run back to the car since it was -20 C. Just before they opened I went to the front of the store and waited. within like 30 seconds a massive line formed behind me.

Once the doors opened I ended up in 3rd spot in line. I went right to the front till and asked for my 2 copies of the limited edition, they said their store never got ANY!!!!! I was like what the shit dude. I thought I was picking mine up but it turns out they were shipped to me. I thought it was pre order then pick up. So i just ended up buying the regular edition and players guide. I was super happy to see they were giving out t shirt to the first 25 costumers buying Zelda. BONUS!!!

So ya the Best Buy I was at said you could only get the Limited Edition through online pre order

Monday, October 31, 2011 - 07:17:43 AM

I checked the mail early this morning and received these wonderful items. I couldn't be more happy. What a wonderful halloween  Simon's Quest has got to be one of my top favorite games of all time. My favorite soundtrack by far, Im so happy to have a sealed copy!

Sunday, June 26, 2011 - 02:57:03 PM

so I went to the flea markets today with little hope as usual. I started at the one I always go to but found nothing more then a good conversation with one of the dudes that works at the game stand

I figured "what the hell" might as well check out the other "never find anything" market. I wondered around until I found a stand that I had seen a few months back. The dude working it looked really familiar to me and upon further investigation, it turns out I bought a cib sega master system with a ton of other stuff a year before on kijiji  I feel like a moron that I never asked for any prices last time I was there because the guy selling had everything for super cheap. A lot of common NES stuff that i needed and bunch of great guides and books. Even a nice lot of RPG Genesis stuff.

Then my jaw dropped as I saw it.... Bubble Bobble 2 with a $50.0 price tag so I thought lol. I said "ill take that too" he replied " sure ill give it to you for $400" then I looked harder and saw there was no decimal lol.

Ouch i thought to myself. He then went on to say" ill trade you if you have 3 ninjas for snes or color a dinosaur for nes..."

We chatted for a bit and funny enough he recommended NintendoAge as a great place to go for info on pricing lol

Went home posted a quick "should I do this thread" ... everything thought i was retarded for even asking and BANGO

Bye Bye Im gonna miss you!!!!

condition may be more of a 7 and the manual a 7 also

all in all im very happy

Tuesday, June 14, 2011 - 12:09:39 PM

Heres a killer lot i just picked up yesterday, it ties into my very first post in this thread. It was from the same guy. He was clearing out the rest of his collection. I spent big money with him the last time we met so he remembered me. I knew quiet a few items that he had from the last time we dealt like a year ago. I figured he had sold off everything off because he had a lot of the stuff set aside and ready to ship back then, he told me that deal never went through. I was very surprised to see him selling again. Originally we just made a loose deal on a playstation and games and whatever else he could find, Man was I surprised!!!! I wasn't expecting this lol good thing I had a large amount of money on me just in case

Just wondering what this would be worth in the condition that it is in. It works perfect also. Serial numbers on box and console sadly do not match Sad

Well I guess Im a nice guy or something lol, my cousin messaged me today and said that he wanted me to have his NES box and that I could come get it whenever. I had nothing to do today so I headed on over. WOW he just kept giving me stuff, he said he had no use for any of it and he knew I collected video games. Everything he gave me was CIB excluding the Sega Genesis, N64 gameshark, Mario Kart 64 and Bond. (Bond and Mario games were missing, he figured one of his sisters friends jacked him. Crazy enough my Bond is also missing... Conspiracy .. yes most likely)Any who, he just could not part with his Genesis system and games since he loved them above all others. I wasnt complaining. Right after I left my cousins house I gave the N64 and a few games to him since he really wanted one. one big happy family we are lol

 Saturday, April 02, 2011 - 03:09:34 PM

My long time friend  from jr high came over last night  to have a few drinks and play some games. When he got here, he carried this through the door... I was shocked since he figured his parents threw it out a few years ago. He found it packed away in his garage.I remember this shelf from the first few days of meeting him in 1996. Our other friend had a similar but different one.

The other day I saw this kijiji ad and right away I knew I had to get this. I was never a huge Donkey Kong Country fan but it takes me back to the good old days in it during my favorite era of games. I loved the look of this jacket and the colors were totally my style.

The Man I bought it from said his wife had entered some sort of Canadian Donkey Kong Contest back in 1995.  First prize was a trip and second place was this jacket valued at $250. He remembers they were limited to 50 across Canada. He said no one has ever worn it ever, he put it in a closet and it has been there for 16 years. It literally looks brand new with no signs of anything, but being brand new.

Well I tell you this, it now has been worn....  and for the love of Miyamoto, it was amazing. It fit perfect me perfect. Walking around my basement in my ginch with it on was heavenly. I hope that don't effect the value. EDIT : I was wearing a t-shirt underneath the jacket

Anyone remember this contest? It looks really nice but I have no clue if its really from a licensed Nintendo Contest. Could not find a thing about it online. Hope someone can help

Saturday, March 12, 2011 - 05:19:42 PM

I just got a 3do in a kijiji trade and I think its a really cool system. I got like 15 games with it and I loved Gex and Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. Wing Commander 3 was really cool with all the videos. The coolest thing is the sound which is really good. Its like the Sega CD but actually works and is fun lol. Like when I saw Gex I thought it was gonna be terrible controls since Sega CD makes me think all similar looking games are the same but the controls were actually great. The movies are entertaining and well done in my opinion

heres a pic of what I picked up

Sunday, November 07, 2010 - 04:20:30 PM

Ok, so heres a buy I had no intentions of doing lol. I had spend the allowance I gave myself for the week already and was suppose to get some furniture for my girlfriend at Ikea. The furniture was sold out so we decided to go to a popular avenue in our city for lunch. Its an ave. with many trendy shops and pubs (hot spot on weekends) we decided to go to a pub we had gone to many times in the past. I remember there was an old "dungeons and dragons" kinda store right next door. I had gone to that shop many times in the past just to look at all the cool stuff there ( action figures, swords, weapons, shirts blah blah blah) I just remembered there was a few Nes games there at one point when I was collecting action figures. I was totally surprised that there was a whole shelf of games from many systems. The prices were all over the place but I managed to find some games for a half decent price. Kirby's Dream Land 3 - $50 was the main one. The guy working the store was extremely knowledgeable about collecting in general, he right away let me know he had no idea about video games and what the appeal was.... he told me that they were all junk lol I respected his honesty. I pulled out my iphone to check prices and right away he was on me and asked " what does your little magic device tell you these are worth...?" I totally lied through my teeth and was telling him his prices were way over priced. he replied that they were priced according to the local market ( which is retarded overpriced) He wanted to trade for stuff like medical tools, old archeological tools or taxidermy..... HUH!!!!!?Huh but thats what he wanted... odd weird shit like wolf skulls or beaver pelts. I mean this was a classic collectable store but I guess he had a bunch of stuff on the side lol. I told him Id think about the games and maybe would be back. My girl friend and I went for lunch next door. I posted a thread asap and thank you to superNESman and RetroBasement for your help. After lunch I went back and got these 3 games Kirby's Dream Land 3 - $50, Ultima The Black Gate- $55 and Lost Vikings 2 - $35. Only wanted Kirby but he would not budge unless i got afew games.... he wanted $140 and would only move to $120, I figured screw it and bought the 3. I was pissed to find that Lost Vikings 2 cart label was shit.... i looked at kirby and ultima before hand but for some reason I figured lost vikings would be good so I never checked it out. It wasnt SHIT. oh well ill just have to trade up. Ill be going back there more to trade and buy more. I have some old models ill be able to trade there also, for stuff like Dragon warrior 1&2 CIB in great condition ( 100 bucks each though ) I dont mind trading my old junk that I dont care about to bring the prices down

Wells heres to hoping that I can forget about my TG16 disaster and get back on track....

This was a kijiji deal i did 2 days ago. I was on my iphone at work and spotted an add "27 nes games for $50 bucks". I called the number listed as fast as I could but to my dissapointment they were sold and picked up an hour earlier. So I checked kijiji again for snes games and E.V.O came up for $50 bucks. I replied asking if it came the box and manual and got a reply of "no but i need money so lets make a deal". She said she also had Super Mario World, Super Mario All-Stars, Mario Kart and Killer Instinct. I messaged back $75 for all. She said ok but she lived like 45 min to an hour away from my house. ... then she said that she was coming my way and could deliver the games to the nearest  public place ( the nearest convenient store is about 30 seconds away from me) I replied sure and said id give her $80 for her trouble. So there you have it, I met her the next day and got the games.

all pretty good shape, they need a minor cleaning and the label on Super Mario Kart is starting to peel on top can easily glue it back on but this is a keeper for me some i dont really care to much at the moment. I plan on selling SMW and SM Allstars since I already have them. These 2 games go for good money locally, especially together lol

Also went to my parents house after and found 2 priceless Commodore 64 boxes on top of the basement fridge when I went to get a beer, Easy Learning "Learning to spell" and "learning to add" I have the games somewhere but I must have left the boxes up there when I found the games. Then my girlfriend came over with 2 nes games her cousin found in her parents basement. Captain Comic and NARC in generic plastic cases. That was a nice surprise and not bad for free lol her cousin had more games and the system but the were in another box in a basement full of boxes, basically like Super Mario Bros ( The Princess is in another castle..)

Saturday, October 30, 2010 - 04:40:30 PM

F you local dealers with Turbo Grafx 16 games.... F you

So I set off this morning with like $340 worth of systems and games to trade at the local flea market. I stopped at a Store " grama's attic"on the way.... actually had a bunch of games for newer systems (N64 and up ) for decent prices. nothing special. so I  headed off to the local flea market hopefully to find my buddy working the game stand. I wanted to trade all my stuff for about 8  Turbo Grapx 16 games and a stack of Sega master system and Sega Genesis games. Unfortunately for me the owner was working today and from what I heard from my buddy "hes a moron when it comes to dealing". I quickly found that out... I made a list rather then carry 20 pounds worth of stuff around but I thought i would just ask about the TG16 games before I said anything about my stuff to trade. Right away the owner said he was only selling the games if I bought the system for 150 bucks. it was loose TG16 and not even complete it was missing the plastic cover thingy and the games were nothing special. this guy would not deal at all with me, set in stone he was. " you will never find TG16 games anywheres" he says. I offer straight up cash for just the games but he was loosing interest in me fast so  I left it at that. I didnt bother to trade becaus of the way this guy was. I thought i had better wait until my buddy was there so at least I could get some value for my stuff.... I walked away very unhappy ( since I really wanted those TG16 games)  only to find some sweet Mario kids clothes a few booths down. got some sweet stuff for my nephew for Xmas.

I left the flea market with one last place to look "SWAPACOM 2" oooo ahhhh. This was advertised on kijiji like it was the next E3 lol. It was some Anime/video game swap meet so I thought I would check it out. Thank god i played alot of video games that had maps involved cause this was a very difficult to find since it was at the University and  the campus is quit large. I mean this wasnt at a convention centre or a hall no.. it was in a fucking classroom in the University in one of the education centres on the 2 floor.....like what the hell. I finally found it and to my quick disappointment it was 4 tables with 4 people selling random Anime and video games. 1 guy had a half decent table set up so I went though it and found nothing special except 6 TG16 games BOO YA. I started to deal on them armed with my "to trade" list in my pocket. This guy knew his stuff . Great another TG16 enthusiast I thought... " hey man these are IMPOSSIBLE to find" he said . His pricing was really close to the VGA Iphone app that I was going off of. I mean what else was I suppose to go off of?Huh??ebay.ca rarely has TG16 stuff and this was only the second time I have come across TG16 games.  He wanted 115 for the 6 games and didn't want to come down at all. So I pulled out my list and said "trade"Huh? " sure"he replied. He read the list and wanted a bunch of my nes games but said he counldnt trade for the TG16 games, but  anything else Yes but not the TG16 games.... WHAT THE FUCK MAN. I told him forget it and  I got him down to 100. A fair price I thought  and besides I didn't care I just wanted to play some TG16 already...with that deal done I turned around a saw some sweet Zelda flags. so I decide to get one of those too since i needed to fill a spot in my basement.

Finally I am done...

around 5700 pixel blocks and 1.5 months  later. this was the all time labour of love and extreme frustration ( still frustrating because I cannot seam to get a good picture....). It all started in the back of a Nintendo Power issue like a year ago. They had made Mega Man and Airman along with some other characters out of pixel blocks. they looked wicked in the light i thought, so about a month and a half ago i finally got 2400 blocks. then I made Mega Man then sadly I found that i ran out of black and most of the blues. so i ordered 4000 more lol. Just kept building after that until this was made. I was inspired by the 25th birthday of the nes and the upcoming 3Ds, so that is why I build it in layers to give it a "3-d"  effect. I had always wanted to make a stained glass window since going to europe the first time 4 years ago. Seeing the stain glass windows in cathedrals was my favourite thing to do after a few pints of cider. I custom fit it to the top shelf of my game shelf. I strung 2 sets of battery power xmas led lights behind it . Pics don't do it justice. heres some of the better ones i guess i have like 100 pics in my photobucket folder.

Sunday, October 24, 2010 - 07:25:05 PM

So I have decided to change this thread to an ongoing finds list. I acquire new games every 1-2 weeks and dont usually buy useless its a good deal. I have been doing surprisingly well and lucky as can be with my nes CIBS and factory sealed. But every time i go to buy games locally there always seams  to be a story with every purchase I do and questions arise....

Like to today for instance, I went to West Edmonton Mall (4th largest mall in the world) to meet and sell some stuff on kijiji. Everything went well with the sale and I walked away with a few extra bucks. I checked out "Play Me" a retarded over priced game store ( when it comes to older stuff ). I found some snes and genesis carts but nothing to write home about.  I did ge the Castlevania LoS players guide, which I was very happy to get. That was about it for the mall, checked out some thrift and pawn shops on the way home.

Went to a rough part of town to look at some pawn shops. Went one store that had a snes with 2 wireless controllers and about 8 carts, all of it was behind the till. The guy working the store came up to me and asked what I was looking at. I said the super nintendo games, he right away replied "80 dollars!", I then asked him what games he had... he said " all of it only  for 80 dollars".. I like "can I see the games... ?" he was getting mad and started to walk away. " I said " Im just interested in the games man" he walked back and said "30 dollars of the games" , Then I said lol, " just let me look at the games first" and then he literally walked away from me and started talking some other language to other people in the store like nothing happened....lol. like what the hell man? he wouldnt let me see the games, all I could make out was "Barts Nightmare" I have no clue what the other games were. Any one else have problems wih this? A guy being asshhole for no reason? how was I in the wrong? im not gonna buy something with out looking at it first lol.

I was so mad when I left but I saw another shop across the street so I checked it out. found a bunch of old snes and genesis games. Found some nice genesis games with cases but no manuals.  They were 5 bucks each. But when I went to the till the girl said that there was a deal  and gave me a coupon "buy one get one free" but it only could be used once... but since i was buying old stuff she said she would get me i better deal on all of them... I have no clue why she did this lol. so I got 6 genesis games for 15 bucks. $ 2.50 a game. Not bad in my books, I love Golden Axe and beat it many times ( takes about an hour )  at my buddies house throughout the years so i was really happy to get it.

Short story:

Chaken Case
Space Harrier II CIB
Golden Axe (sega collection) CIB
Strider Case
American Gladiators Case
some Japanese game CIB ( only grabbed it cause the rest of the games were sports and i needs to buy in pairs to get the deal )

15 bucks

Part 4

Thursday, October 21, 2010 - 05:52:46 PM

ok so I went back to get the last few games this couple had. A sealed Final Fantasy and Metriod. when I got there though the dude cam clean and told me that Final Fantasy was a RESEAL!!!!!! HOLY BURN BATMAN. It was in great shape besides a vicious price tag on the box itself OUCH the game itself was still sealed i guess you could say with a black nintendo sticker seal. So i had no use for a CIB FF. I ended up just getting the Metroid, Goof Troop for snes ( a game that has eluded me for some time now) and Yoshi Safari. For a total of 100 bucks. I dont know if I did good or not but in the long run combined with the other games I got from them Im really happy

32 CIB nes
26 factory slealed nes
3 cart with manuals and sleeves
2 cib snes

63 games in total for $480

Im gonna post a ton of pics of Metriod Im hoping a factory sealed guru can take a look at the pics and tell me what its worth. this in the most I have even payed for a Factory sealed and am interested how i did. every other time I got factory  sealed i never payed more than like 40 bucks. I payed 80 bucks for Metroid, its got some scratches and dings......  shoulda looked harder. This game will be my learning curve

EDIT Went back a third time and grabbed this for another $40

Looks to be sealed but possible not. Hard to tell with the Canadian releases due to the black sticker. Either was sealed or cib Im happy

Tuesday, October 19, 2010 - 10:53:04 AM

Well oddly enough my Factory Sealed collection has grown again... odd because I have never had intentions on collecting Factory sealed but here we are... It was actually a great kijiji deal and the seller was located right next to my old elementary school. The very school that I traded and talked about NES games for years. the first thing the guy does is throw Wizards and Warriors II Iron Sword against the wall and then it landed on the table. I was shocked to say the least, then 2 seconds later the girl shoves Final Fantasy and Metroid factory sealed in my face and said " I bet you wish you could have these ha ha ha". I had talked to both of them the night before and told them what I wanted and they agreed  on a price with me.

280 $ for the games listed below

after going through every game with the both of them while he gave me his opinion on every single game and grilled me with questions about what i was gonna do with the games. " your just going to sell them aren't you?" "why are you buying them?" I just said I liked nes games and liked buying them in the boxes rather then just cartridges... they had forgot to list a bunch of games and then offered them to me for 90 bucks

factory sealed

So all of that for $370 Canadian, Im quite happy with the deal. the condition of these games makes them worth every penny for me.

Monday, September 13, 2010 - 02:50:14 PM

So yesterday I went to my nephews 2nd birthday party at my parents house. When I was there I remembered a Super Mario mini pinball that my buddy gave to me about 10 years ago for 5 bucks. So I went to look for it and found all my old toys. I figured I might as well take some of the toys home to make room for my mom. As I dug around in the 4 bins I brought home, I found some cool stuff and a whole lot of memories. I took a bunch of pictures for my own records and decided to share them with everyone. It was funny to see how much work i put into video games as a kid. making lists and prices guides to cutting out game reviews from old magazines and I even saved a Bullwinkle's Token. I don't know if anyone else had a Bullwinkle's growing up but I did and it was amazing. It was the best arcade in the city and every kid had there birthday there. WOW what great memories.

Went to the local flea market and was happy to see games that i had wanted 4 months ago were still there. I went there for Street Fighter Alpha 3 for GBA and found Metroid Fusion for GBA also. I they looked over at the nes games and saw Ducktales in the box looked in good shape the manual was in good condition too. got all 3 for $65. I was happy with the price. Then the great news happened... got a Midnight Blue DSI LX and Kirby Super Star Ultra for 10 bucks. Yep thats right, just had to pay the tax for them. I cashed in my Shoppers Drug Mart points ( saved up 200 dollars worth ). so all in all a great day

A few years back my older cousin came over and saw all my games and asked if I wanted all of his. I said sure but it wasn't until 2 days ago he actually gave them all to me free of charge!!! I think the term one mans junk is another man treasure really applied here LOL. When I think about it though I can remember going to the bar with him and he would order like 18 shots at the bar, then turn around and say to me "I don't have any money to pay for these, do you have 100 bucks?Huh" LOL i remember playing for a lot of stuff like that for him. Oh well i think he was happy to see them go to a collection, the only thing is I wont be selling or trading any of his games because I don't think that would be right but maybe ill talk to him and if he's says its ok ill get rid of the doubles. its funny to see the plastic nintendo cases with the manuals and the front of the nes boxes cut to fit into them. My auntie  did it just like my mom did to all of my games. I thought that was rather funny

I have gathered some cool video games stuff over the years. I don't have too much stuff or nothing too crazy but this has to be my most favourite of them all. I know a lot of other members have some crazy stuff so I would love to see it. I picked this up off ebay for 125 bucks a few months ago. I just had to have it when I saw it . I remember looking at this display model when I was a kid at McDonalds and yelling to my mom who was in line "Get me Luigi MOM!!! LUIGI!!!!" and dreaming I could have all 4. now I do....

So this is the 3rd trade I have done for Warhammer for Video games. This deal was like 3 months in the making..... He had emailed me long ago to buy my army but nothing really happened until last week. He said "I have like all the old Nintendo systems to trade and a bunch of games". He send me a list and I was like "ok my army for all your games and $50 bucks". he said ok. I felt it was a great deal for me since I dumped a ton of models just sitting there collecting dust and Im sure he felt the same way with his games. There are some pretty sweet highlight games in here. quite a few games will be for sale or trade. Why do I get the feeling that the last scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark was them wheeling it into killerkobra's basement?

Looks like a pretty good collection there. I didn't read quite everything but did look at all the pictures. I like the notebook you made as a kid.
