This game has been out now for two weeks and it's sold out everywhere near me. That gets me thinking, is the game as good as the hype makes it out to be? Or maybe, stores just have limited numbers in stock to create more of a "better buy this now" mentality in shoppers.

could be the latter, but it's hard to say. from browsing online it doesn't seem like there's any shortage of people playing it, so the launch numbers couldn't have been that limited.

I spoke with an EB Games employee yesterday and he told me they had 50 pre-orders of The Last of Us, plus they sold 100 copies to walk-in customers. Stores have been getting anywhere between 5 and 25 copies every few days and they sell out by dinner time. As of earlier this week the Sony warehouse has run out of copies of the game so that's why no retailers have it right now. Shipments are coming out this weekend.

It pays to ask around.

i overheard someone at an EB today saying they should be getting another shipment of it around wednesday or so and to check back regularly if you really want one.

That's pretty much what I was told. I'm getting fairly antsy about wanting to play this game so I'll phone the store on Tuesday and get the scoop from them.
