To be blunt due to safe Nintendo these days, I'm expecting Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Link, Toon Link, Ganon, (recentish Pokemon or two), a character from Pikmin 3, character from latest Fire Emblem, Samus, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Pit, a character from Animal Crossing, Wario, Takamaru, Ice Climbers, Kirby, another Kirby character [King Dedede?] and maybe even Lolo or Dillon. Oh and Master Hand for final boss. Sadly I don't even think Fox and Captain Falcon would return since Nintendo have been trying to avoid F-Zero [except that minigame in Nintendo Land] and Star Fox but who knows.

As for 3rd party fighters, I can see Pac-Man being in this due to the Namco connection and that Miyamoto's favourite gaming character is Pac-Man. While I would have love to see Klonoa and Dr. Don/Dr. Dan, the chances are silm at best. Originally I thought Sonic would be out of the question before that Sega-Nintendo partnership so he might be in it plus he's been in Brawl before.

I definitely don't expect any characters from Capcom and Konami, since the former mainly focuses on Monster Hunter for Nintendo and Resident Evil while was on Nintendo systems is a multiplatform series [plus Street Fighter that I seem very little chance of even Ryu making it in the game] and the latter only cares about Metal Gear Solid, modern Castlevania [so no Simon Belmont] and barely Pro Evolution Soccer. That means for Capcom no Mega Man, no Nathan Spencer from Bionic Commando, no Frank West [he only appeared in an iffy port of Dead Rising on the Wii but he is popular], no Phoenix Wright and no Mike Haggar, also for non-Nintendo consoles no Hiryu and no Dante or Donte [people like the former, Capcom insists on the latter]. For Konami little chance of Snake returning but he is more possible than the others or at least someone like Raiden, no classic Belmonts, no Goemon, no Bill Rizer, no Sparkster, no runner that looks like Mario from Track & Field, no Frogger [how would he work anyway?] and almost impossible for the two characters from Bishi Bashi Special. Also on the Hudson side that is pretty much dead that Konami have the rights to so no Bomberman, no Master Higgins and no Bonk.

Would I have loved to see all these characters in the new Smash Bros? Absolutely [except Donte but he is in PlayStation Allstars anyway]! It's just that sometimes you have to be realistic.

I was really happy when he was first announced. But I didn't like playing with him at all. Unless they rework him I dont care if he returns. Being that Pikmin 3 is a big deal for the Wii U I'd be surprised if there isn't a character from that one though.
