I'm listening to the dull, roar, of a 250 Psi Boiler.

Sappy, cheesy inspirational songs from 1980s underdog-overcoming-the-odds movies.

Aaaand of course the one that started it all:

Finally, the most notable goof on the subgenre:

If you don't fade out at the end of a montage, you're gonna have a bad time!

I can't see any of the videos because of my third world internet connection. But I hope you have "you've got the touch" by Stan Bush with the transformers music video.

That is indeed one of them, Mr. 9000.

Also included:

- The Best Around from Karate Kid

- The theme to the Hulk Hogan vehicle, No Holds Barred

- No Easy Way Out from Rocky IV

- Eye of the Tiger from Rocky III

Aaaand

- The Montage song from Team America World Police

That reminds me: Trey Parker's done a couple other satires of the sappy underdog-overcoming-the-odds inspirational rock tunes, including the theme to Orgazmo...

...and "the car song" from Baseketball:

Mr. Bungle and Mike Patton are awesome. Bungle's first album was the best.

I got to see Mr. Bungle on their California tour and it was one of my favorite shows I've been too. Even scored a sweet Mr. Bungle Hawaiian shirt! I love Bungle...but I think I'd give away part of my manhood for a new Faith No More album.

After hearing the Hardcastle & McCormick theme for the first time in a couple decades, I've gone on a 1970s/1980s cop/p.i.-action show theme binge, including several different renditions of Hunter. Mike Post at the top of his game for many of these.

That's right, all you whippersnappers out there: there was a time when TV shows dedicated at least a minute to an opening credits sequence with a theme playing, instead of the cold-open deal they do nowadays. Now get off my lawn, dammit!

Bought a couple Peter Gabriel CDs at the local Salvation Army today and played them in my car as I drove to other thrifting destinations. Specifically, his third and fourth self-titled releases, AKA "Melty Face" and "Security."

Continuing my Peter Gabriel kick by watching (and listening to) several of his music videos, which are some of the most imaginatively surreal productions ever to hit the boob tube.

Soon to be the official theme of a certain online digital game distributor?

Aaand of course, who can forget the most-played music video in MTV history:
